Re-establish a dropped domain

Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask.

I sold a flash game site to someone that earned revenue in 2011, now the domain is expired.

Question is, if I buy this dropped domain name back and use my old contents back in 2011, would this be okay for seo? and would it be any different than using a completely new domain? I assume the backlinks will still be there?

Is it worth buying back? or start a fresh domain name?

Hope you guys can help.
Thanks

Did you check whether the backlinks still exist currently??

Also check DA and PA of the site as well. Who knows what the site had in these 3 years?

Hmm, and also have a look at archive.org and check what the content was. Whether the content matched the theme of the domain or not.

I would advice not to use the previous content again. Better start afresh.

But, let us hear what others opinions are too.

You will want to use SEO SpyGlass or Backlink Miner to do this.

Total waste of time. There is no need.

Another useless step. You might want to read the original post again.

There is no harm in using the previous content if it was successful for you in the past.

        OH SNAP...

You wouldn't be telling someone to use stolen content homeslice?

He did say he sold the site back then, so I'm presuming he sold the content along with it.

Good thing is, its a flash game site and those games are available to embed by anyone and not licensed.

No not stolen content. I was assuming this...

I should have been more clear on that. I would stay away from using stolen content. That can bring on headaches that have nothing to do with SEO.

If there's no decent backlink profile on the old domain then none of this matters, start a new domain.

The content is most likely the same stuff that's on thousands of other flash game sites. Once you've seen one you've seen them all.

If the domain name is good and it has a good back link profile or traffic then redevelop it.
