Better to turn it into a blog.

For one, you can link to more than one page and more than one site in the future.

It is better to setup a blog on your domain.

I'll be the third person to say to start up a blog on the domain. As it grows and you get bigger, the good quality content you have on there will be a great asset.

Definitely, it's way better to turn it into a blog, especially if you need to start a PBN.

is the decision whether to choose for a website or a blog depends on the time you want to invest in it. Websites are more static, blogs are need more maintenance in sense that you have to keep on deliver original content.

Meh, I'll go against the grain and say that it depends on what you want to use it for.

Sure a "Blog" for a PBN is fine if you want to have an asset that you have to maintain and link out to other sites with. However, if you only have one site in that niche and you just want to rank that one site then a blog isn't the answer.

PR6 Link < PR6 301in terms of pagerank value passed to your site.

But if you have a bunch of sites in that niche, or you just want to use it as a general non-niche specific site then a "Blog" is the way to go....

      GOYOU,

you hit the nail on the head man. In this scenario if you are looking for a "niche specific" PBN then setting up a blog to be used for a money site and other sites in your "niche" would be the best choice for sure...

Though if you're trying to power up a SINGLE domain then 301'ing it may be the best choice. Remember though that the METRICS of a site are not what is important. You want to look at the link profile and pick out a link or two your site would LOVE to have...

In doing so you don't just 301 over a site with old citations and some low quality blog links. Look for sites with good authority links like Wikipedia, CNN, BBC, etx... (Sites that you know without looking them up)

Now since May's update 301's have changed to an extent.
The direct from registrar 301 without hosting used to be instant and used as such. Why pay hosting for something you're not even going to be using a site right? Well now if you 301 direct from registrar it is going to take you a solid 14-21 days to see ANY movement if any at all. It's been nerfed if you will.

Now if you HOST that domain, index that domain, and THEN 301 it to your money site. You're going to be seeing results in 3-5 days.

Good Luck and if you have any other questions let me know,

Blogs are best when you have a topic that compels you to write fresh information on a consistent basis.Depending upon your goals you can choose your option.

I'd use a blog. Pages with 301's can lose their PR eventually, right after I buy a freshly dropped domain with PR I always throw up a decent 20+ page wordpress mini-site around that niche. Then I just write posts on that blog and feature them on the home page, and can also use blogroll links pointing back to my other relative sites... Just make sure all your sites aren't hosted on one IP. I use 5 VPS's with 3 IP's each, I don't sell links on my sites and most of my sites rank pretty well! Hope this helps!

Buying expired domains are a crap-shoot at best, so I would treat it the same way I would any site I own. Depending on the niche you could just build out a smaller static site, or setup wordpress. Just remember that most search engines like fresh content on blogs.
