Creating a sub-domain is advisable?

Guys I have xxx.com and now it want to add abc.xxx.com how many of you think it will be a good Idea.First let me clear that xxx.com is education site and abc.xxx.com will be a book store for students.

Do you think it will gonna work or should I go for some other strategies.

Usually subdomains are okay if you are planning to have a completely different platform but carries the same brand. Example: blog.brandname.com < here the subdomain's purpose is a blog. Instead of doing brandname.com/blog, you gave it an entirely different identity which also I believe would help maintain organized site structure.

Hi shahnawazsadique,

When you say "Do you think it will gonna work", what is the measurable you are trying to acheive? Could you elaborate more on that?

If you are looking at it from a technical point of view, it's going to work, and you can treat the main domain and your subdomain as 2 different sites, with the same branding.

From an SEO perspective (in particular with Google), a subdomain is treated like a new website, although Google does look at the authority of the main domain when ranking the subdomain webpages. If you wish you consolidate your SEO efforts, and that the look and feel of your education site vis-a-vis the book store can be the same, try, xxx.com/bookstore instead of a subdomain. Any subpages will be xxx.com/bookstore/book-title for example. Now both "sites" benefit from the overall domain authority and trust rank, when both "sites" gets inbound links.
