hello warriors,

i have been using all in one seo plugin for years and every time i launch my site i make home description, home title and home keywords, but i have never used metal keywords description and title for post, pages and categories. How do you think is it necessary to make those changes and will i have any affect on ranking???
#keywords #meta

If you try to rank with your categories for example, then you for sure have to place title. Meta keywords, no. Meta description is useful, because it is what people read about your site if it ranks, so it is suggested. It affects your ranking.

I also think that the meta description would be useful since when we search asomething over teh search engine, this is the one that shows beneath the search results in the result page.

I would say don't try and get your category pages to rank. If anything try and avoid the search engines indexing them. They can be seen as duplicate content (e.g. if you put a post in five different categories each category page will have at least the same preview of that post)

Also, don't bother with meta keywords. Google pays no attention to them, they just give away what keywords you are targeting to your competitors.

For your posts and pages do use a meta title and description. Make them relevant, attractive and engaging to get people to click on them. Again, don't worry too much about keywords. Google pays little to no attention to them in meta descriptions and titles.

    Hope this helps.

You keep repeating metal....have no idea why.

You don't need either a description or keywords, meta that is.

Why that myth is still around....might be because it feels good to
      add them.

Meta title? Aint no such animal in 2014. They went extinct c.1997 AD.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. If you don't actually know what the title
tag is, as opposed to a meta title, then why are you givng out advice?

Metadescription is a must since usually google uses it in SERPs , if you have a good description maybe it can get a visit to your website.

Meta description and title are important still, meta keywords in the other hand had became useless since a long time.

      I do not set a meta-description.

      I let google do that for me. I won't know where my page will show up, could be for any number of random searched terms. With that being said, google will pick the best meta description for that search term. I cannot write one that will suit all of the terms, but google can pull that data its self and make it most relevant for the serps;

Whilst Google can and do make up a meta description and will sometimes use theirs over the one provided on site, I prefer to write a description so that most of the time it reads well in the search results.

BIBI15, you need to write your custom meta tags if you want to control your own results appear as what you plan in your mind corresponding to google results. Control or BE CONTROLLED the results, you decide since Google's algorithms changing daily if you dare to say all-in-one SEO packs can give you forever affirmative results toward your own website's success.

Meta tags are great way for webmasters to provide search engines with information about their site. Meta tags can be used to provide information to all sorts of client and each system processes only the meta tags they understand and ignored the rest

I only use title and description. Meta keyword is not used, do not see the benefits, if there are many add that may be too large a percentage of keywords

In ranking purpose, it is not important. But for users clicks it is important. Always the description should be appealing so that the user will click and see the content inside. It will also help the users to find about what they are looking for.

I would say go for meta description and title optimization. Meta keywords are no longer useful.

Hmm, meta description is very important for the purpose of any sites visibility, because it show or inform the search engine about your site. Meta keyword is also important but not as much the description is because it is not visible on the search engine, and title, well putting an exact keyword in your title may drive traffic to your site and increase its visibility as well.

Meta keyword tag is dead and buried and has been for a longtime, google pays little to no attention to them.

Seeing as google picks and chooses a description, even prefering their own over the one provided in your description, i like a poster above, provide a description that reads well , butt he description google shows does as we know depend on the query.

Meta title tag is important and does no harm to have it, also using h1 and h2 tags is good aswell.

and below all of the meta tags is the most important thing of all and thats the content on the page, if its unique and quality you will not go far wrong, content as they say.. is KING

get the right consistancy on your pages and you will be alright

    Bertie
