I thought this was a JV section...

Then why is most of the threads here about selling solo ads ? Time for the mods to get busy deleting or change the rules...

This is rediculous.

Hardly any JV proposals or requests and if I see one it hardly gets any responses. Are solo ads really the only way for you to get some cash coming in ? Even if you have to rip people off ?

It almost looks like solo ads sellers here are only taking advantage of newbies who believe the number of clicks they are supposed to get.

Time to find a better place for actual JVs and ad swaps.
This is going nowhere...game over.

I see that there are people thinking the same about this.

Don't be shy and make this thread worth while.
It's like collecting signatures for a petition...

Hopefully something will happen to make this section worth it again.

    Thanks for the appreciation !

Yeah, I agree Andre. I have a thread I want to post here but need to upgrade in order to do so. I really don't think it's worth the price of upgrading if it's not going to get any responses.

Would be a good idea to just make a section for email and solo ads.

    Hi Andre,
I'm a bit of a newbie on here and I need to purchase a solo ad. Are you saying that this isn't a good place to find reliable solo ad vendors, or are you saying that solo ads are not a good investment?

I need to start building a UK IM list but don't know of a better way to do so. Any suggestions?

I have a lot of solo ad contacts, but hardly any of them have many UK subscribers so I've resorted to looking on here.

    Thanks in advance!

      JV's != Solo Ads.

Solo Ads are advertisements. You are paying somebody a flat fee to spam their list with your offer. I.e. you pay somebody $200 to send some offer to their list of 2000 people, you don't get a single sale (which will happen with most of the offers here).

A JV is supposed to be a partnership where, for example, somebody would send your offer to their list and you pay them on a CPA or revshare basis (essentially they be your affiliate). I.e. somebody sends out your offer to their list of 2000 people, which results in you getting 5 sales, you then pay that person a $20/sale fee so you owe them $100 for sending you 5 sales (or whatever works for you).

To the OP: I strongly agree with you, that's how I've felt from day one. The few threads I've seen here that do look somewhat legit end up being garbage.

There's somebody advertising a list of 112,000 subscribers here and they say you'll get 1000 clicks...really? That's less than a 1% CTR, total rubbish. And I'm betting they want $500 to send to that list because of it's size.

Thanks Christian. I said I was a newbie, but I understand thath!

I was asking about the quality of solo ads on this forum. I'm not such a newbie to IM, but I don't really use this forum very often.

Can anyone suggest where I can find a decent solo ad for UK subscribers?

        Thanks in advance

Selling solo ads is a service, selling exposure, selling clicks, selling a number of visitors to your site or offer...not a JV.
A JV is an agreement on a joint campaign of some sort where both benefit from joint efforts. Not buying a service. Reciprocal promotion, integration marketing on thank you pages or autoresponder sequences, etc.

The Admin stated quite a while ago that selling solo ads is not allowed in the JV section, howvwer too many, even respected members (...so I thought), are ignoring this and post ONLY solo ads sales threads !

I'm with Christian on this. A joint venture is when you leverage the assets of another business for your own personal gain and theirs (also, hopefully the customers).

I don't feel it matters what kind of deal you negotiate, it's still a JV.

That's not really what this thread is about, but of course solo ads are a good investment...if the solo ad is quality sent to a targeted list. The place to find good solo ad sellers should be the Classifieds Section.

Personally , I'd love to buy some great solo ads. I see the value in them, I'd rather buy a solo ad than do a JV because I know my stuff converts. What sucks is when someone wants to JV with you and you waste a good mailing on a product that doesnt sell. You only get to do so many mailings per month. Maybe people dont want to waste their mailings.

Anyone with a list might understand this.

    Personally,

I would never SELL a solo ad, but I'd rather buy one than to JV with someone because I would make more money.

Yes, we all do...if they're really quality and deliver on their promise concerning the number of clicks. And as far as I've seen there's only a few solo ad sellers worth the money.

My point was that there's too many solo ad sales threads here, which is not allowed. Shame that most of them are not to be trusted and some are most likely scams...rip-offs.

Solo ads sellers should use the Classifieds section to post their service...just like the requests for review now cost a fee (which I still don't understand either...).

People are ignoring the rules here too much lately. Those who want to swap won't find any swap partners. Even if the thread is about swapping, actually all these threads are about is "buy my solo's".

Someone here mentioned that "they might not want to do too many mailings". I think there are several (or even many) solo ad sellers who send out solo's a few times a week or maybe every day. No wonder you'll never get the promised clicks from these people...their list is spammed with too many offers probably.

This section has lost its quality for me.

After reading some other posts I agree that solo ads could stand their own section, however it makes sense that a JV section wouldnt be busy because a person can get more info on affiliates... at Warrior plus and see stats... There are too many networks where people can actually study the stats of potential JVs and approach them as opposed to what a mere thread saying "I want to JV" could offer.

    Maybe Im missing something though.

Step off line and ask those who do business there "what is a joint venture?" If you don't have time for that try Googleing joint venture definition.

But of course things are different online. For example we say BS instead of what we really mean. If you tried many of the antics that I see occurring with online "business" down at my local chamber of commerce they would very likely be using a few more choice words.

Question for everyone complaining about the solo ads - how many of those threads have you reported? If everyone that complained reported the rule violations, they would be gone already.

There is a place to post solo ads - it's the classified section, not here. Why do they need a new section when there is a perfectly usable place already waiting for them?

Start reporting the ad sellers in this section and we'll see them die down once they realize they're going to get their posts deleted. Repeat offenders often get free vacations from the forum, too.

What Tina says above -- I don't recall seeing any of you reporting any of these threads. If you did report them, they would be gone already.

You really expect two or three unpaid, volunteer mods (who have their own businesses to run, and lives to live besides) to be able to monitor the literally thousands of new posts put up here every day? That's what the reporting function is for. Use that instead of starting threads complaining that the mods aren't doing their jobs. Sheesh.

They *can* be good if you find somebody with a *quality* list. Just because somebody has 50,000 subscribers doesn't mean they have a good list.

How frequently are they mailing their list?
        Are they only emailing offers?

If somebody is selling their list of 50,000 subscribers, but all they use the list for is to send offers to it 5 times a week, it's a crap list. Everybody on it will probably be ignoring it.

A lot of people use lists as purely a channel to toss endless advertisements at, which is not the right way to do it. You need to keep people wanting to read your emails so your open rates go up. If you are just sending one offer after another, then your list has no value.

    Just to clarify:

Actual ad swaps and actual JVs are OK in this section.

Buying and/or selling solo ads, and anything that's just an affiliate offer, are not.

Ads for solo ads go in the Classifieds section.
Affiliate offers go in the Affiliate Offer Database section.

I do agree, JV section has been flooded lately with SOLO ADS, but what can I say....I am a prime target for that.

I will move my very active, and positively reviewed solo ad service to the "Classified Ads" section of the forum.

Thanks for being attention to this!

    Andre,
I'm pretty new at the I.M. game and have just started to get more involved on the warrior forum. I agree with your thoughts. I just upgraded my warrior status and came to this thread looking for potential J.V.'s and have felt the same way as you. I know better than to ask for a J.V. so early in the game, but I was here just to research more about the J.V. potential, and it appears to be a solo advertising thread much more than J.V. partnerships.

I think the definition of 'what is a JV?' needs to be developed.

    From the rules:

This forum is not for selling ads. Ad swaps are fine, that's a joint venture. Directly selling ads is not.
OK, we are informed that 'ad swaps' are fine - and that they are considered joint ventures.

What else is considered a joint venture?

For example, If I've recently launched a WSO and I have a JV-Invite page, where anyone promoting the product get's X% commission, etc.... is that a JV - or something else.?

Or does it have to be . . . . "I'll mail your product to my list of X if you mail my product to your list of X?"

The only time I've ever posted in here - I received multiple PM's (how do you report a pm) from people wanting to SELL ME some solo mailing.

    I quote Wikipedia.org:

    --------------------------------------------------

A joint venture takes place when two parties come together to take on one project. In a joint venture, both parties are equally invested in the project in terms of money, time, and effort to build on the original concept. While joint ventures are generally small projects, major corporations also use this method in order to diversify. A joint venture can ensure the success of smaller projects for those that are just starting in the business world or for established corporations. Since the cost of starting new projects is generally high, a joint venture allows both parties to share the burden of the project, as well as the resulting profits.

A joint venture is not to be taken lightly. For a businessperson to embark on a joint venture, he or she needs to be committed and willing to work cooperatively with the other party involved. A person involved in a joint venture can no longer make all of the decisions for the business alone. For it to be truly a “joint venture,” there has to be 100% commitment from both sides.
    -------------------------------------------------------------

That should clear it up for most of us.

I agree. Solo ads are not a joint venture, neither are adswaps in my book - especially as some posters ask for adswaps but also say they'll accept solo ad offers because that's what they really want.

Perhaps there should be a section just for adswaps - or have adswaps in the classified section with the solo ads. It would appear some people don't know how to tell the difference.
