YouTube vs Facebook Videos

So where REALLY is the best place for my video content?

- If put videos on YouTube and put them on my blog posts then YouTube gets all the traffic and if I get too heavy in with backlinking to my post I risk YouTube Flagging me. Not to mention the traffic that gets lost with people looking at cat videos. But it is the largest video network out there and Google is rumoured to show favoritism when ranking.

- If you put them on facebook you get no SEO so search engine traffic will be nearly non existent apart from internal and though video is the fastest growing content on FB it's not really geared up (yet) as a video channel/platform...FB does show internal videos in a better format with auto play and a larger video display image than YouTube posted links...but I'm still at risk of losing traffic along the way and with Facebook's limit on the amount of text in ad's all videos wouldn't be able to have much on the thumbnails...but at least i could give content a boost.

- My blog? Perhaps using Wistia, but then Google is not going to rank "non YouTube" videos as highly and I'll have to pay after 50 videos...but at least the traffic (that I get) is going directly to my site and the links are private.

...or could I do all 3? or just Facebook and YouTube (what will that do having the same video on different platforms in terms of conflict)?...and doesn't that just bring me full circle...

BOOM there goes my brain

How do you handle your video content??

This sounds a bit simple but, when I posted videos on a Blogger blog, owned by Google, I got a good bit of traffic. Just another idea for whatever it is worth.

  • Publish your video on both platforms, but on Facebook invite users to watch entire videos on your YT channel or on your blog.

Divide your video on 2 parts and upload to social media only the first one, and tell viewers to visit your website to watch full video on your site or on your Youtube channel.

      it doesn't work.
I tested a short video (25s) and a call to action to drive traffic to my website.
I suggest you to post an image + a shorten link.

Thanks TopSocialMarketing, I have considered the two part video idea to pull people in. but where do you think the best place for all my content should be YouTube or on my blog using wistia to store them?

Part of me is now thinking that if I bit the bullet and just focused on a YT channel for ranking purposes i could then release part 1 videos on FB (and other platforms) as you mentioned and drive all the traffic to YT, with links to any products i'm selling in the content.

The only concern is being at the mercy of YT and getting flags should I upset them, which seems quite easy to do!

    Gareth,
    I spent $500 on facebook.
I run a video campaign in order to drive traffic to my website.
It doesn't work even if there was a call to action at the end of the video.
If you use facebook video player the reach is good but the quality of the player is bad (SD).

Personnaly i get leads uploading videos on youtube and getting keywords with the jackpot Keyword machine to fill in my description.

but i will run a new facebook ads campaign with a post URL.
I will tell you the result.

    Thank you

    Marcus/

Maybe doing all three, but there is a fair chance you'll get really fed up with this complicated process along the way. I would say anything that lead traffic to your website would be helpful, so the third option would work the best for me. Also, putting a shortened link with an image related to the content sounds like a good idea, so if I had to choose, I would combine these two methods.

I would definitely use Youtube. Create your own channel and upload your videos, then embed them on your website and share them on Facebook as well,

I'd go YouTube, being THE video platform currently. Facebook videos have too many issues for me, such as the quality provided on playback, the player itself, the impossible SEO management, etc.

If you are able to set popular keywords on youtube then it will be very useful for you than facbook. Because here most your visitors will come from search according o your keywords.

This is all good stuff thanks, i think i'm def thinking to stick with YouTube. BUT from what i've tested so far when placing videos from YT in my blog posts it only seems to improve the rankings of the YT video not my blog posts, so the YT is all I see in searches. So i'm almost wondering what's the point in having the blog at all?? It's just extra work with no benefit, would it not be better just to have the YT channel with links pointing back to my product offers??
