I am beginning to think so too but the only reason for social bookmarking is to get backlinks. I agree Reddit & StumbleUpon are better.

Yes, SB sites still working to get traffic and index your pages, blog, article etc. But only use some standard sites like stumbleupon, pinterest, reddit, delicious, diggo and so on.

I am glad you bright up delicious because that is exactly what I was talking about, I have post a lot of links on there but I only see my profile coming up. Maybe I am doing something wrong or searching for the wrong keyword.

You can use social bookmarking, but don't expect to be flooded with much traffic. Lately, many are 'abusing the system' so to say.. which is why you shouldn't expect any miracles.
And don't mistake social bookmarking with social media! They are not the same thing.

I could see how people could abuse them. There are services that will automatically do the posting for you. I agree, social bookmarking and social media is not the same thing. I know but I don't think everybody does.

  add/ follow other people in there as possible,

In my opinion social bookmarking sites still work. Specially Reddit, Stumbleupon and Digg are good source of traffic. So if you can use these sites properly, you can generate a good number of traffic.

I agree, I use to see visitors from Reddit and StumbleUpon. On Reddit, it was because of a product that I think I posted the wrong price. I don't know what caused the traffic from StumbleUpon.

SB is a great way to get traffic if your have thousands of real contacts/fans or you post something that gets viral.

Google now looks at your social signals... so, I would definitely invest on increasing your social media content publishing... whether or not its a myth... but search engines are undeniable more focusing on social media conversations.. its the new SEO... use OnlyWire, Hootsuite, Buffer, Social Report, or others to streamline your social media publishing... don't buy fake likes or followers.. just my opinion

I agree there are only a handfull of social bookmarking sites that are worth using. Reddit is a really good one.Tumbler and Stumble upon are also good.
