Whats a good way to get twitter followers?

So my twitter page has 14 followers! had 300 from these share a like pages but my page has become clogged by random peoples posts.

Whats a good way to easily and legitimately get twitter followers, I don't need millions but just a steady increase of say 20 a day would be good!

    To get followers:
    • Follow influencers, big people in your niche and also look at their followers and follow them too. A couple will end up following you.
    • Have an interesting bio linking back to a page about you.
    • If you provide promotional content, don't promote too much.
    • keep tweeting unique content and remember to keep your tweets short.

The best way of getting followers to any twitter account is by following people of your niche. It goes with a simple formula, you follow people and people follow you in return. Also, it is very important to post interesting tweets to attract more people. Use hashtags while posting and tweet about trending topics as well.

Invest more and more time on Twitter and try to follow original profiles not fake profiles. Tweet more and more with amazing words, latest news and techniques and tips related to your business or interest. Try to interact with others rather than acting like a robot.

I have one twitter account that runs pretty much on autopilot, and it seems to do OK. It uses a free, automated posting service from embedle.com (with whom I have no connection other than as a user). It takes a list of topics and sources I choose, and posts headlines and links. People favorite and follow, and my Klout bumps along in the low 30s. Which is not great, but not invisible either.

I usually tweet up to three or four times a day. I post what's going on in the news, motivational quotes and updates on my blog. I also found out that securing your tweets can gain more followers. In order to follow me you would need a request. It makes my account seem more important.

  • I think I have seen this kind of post so many times about the idea of getting followers. If you need followers, others want it as well. So, to get followers, people tend to follows others to get follow back. Because of that, following is just a way to benefit themselves and everybody thinking the same thing so nobody cares about each other. That is why you don't get many interaction. I think if you focus on getting followers, you can get from many people who just want to increase their followers. Clearly, this is a loop because following someone to get follow back. If you ask them for a sale, they are not gonna spend money because they follow you to ask you for a sale. So, you are wasting your time on the following thing because you can't make money from these followers.

    My 1 cents here:

    1. Create a Good Avatar - This suggestion is for aesthetic purposes, but having an avatar that looks unprofessional will only serve to make you appear unprofessional, and that's no way to increase the number of people following you. Since the avatar is simply a small picture to represent you, work within those means. In other words, don't try and squeeze in a picture of you and Mount Rushmore in the background or you in a room with your 14 cats.

    2. Tweets During Peak Hours - How can you expect anyone to follow you if they're asleep? Sending messages, or twittering, during peak hours gives you the best opportunity to be seen, or, rather, read. And that gives you better odds of someone enjoying whatever messages you're sending out and signing up as a follower. So what are the peak hours? There haven't been any studies performed yet, but the Washington, D.C.-based Internet marketing firm Abraham & Harrison have performed some Webinars along with Twitter and confirmed that 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. see heavy use. It's also an opportunity for you to experiment with your tweets and see when you're getting the best response.

    3. Create an Effective Profile Bio - Unless you're already famous (and even if you are), creating an effective bio entry is a great way to attract followers. Nobody wants to follow someone whose bio reads, "I'm just a couch potato with a lot to say" or "I heart 'Dancing with the Stars' and that says it all." Because no, it doesn't say it all. Be creative, clever and intelligent when writing your bio. You want to sum up who you are in a short space, too, so don't go overboard with the prose.

    4. Send "@Messages" to Top Users - One good way to get noticed is to send something called an "@message" to top Twitter users. Here's how it works. If you and your friend both have Twitter accounts and you both follow each other, you can send direct messages to each other that aren't for public consumption. But you can also send "@messages" to anyone you want, whether you follow them or not, or they follow you or not. Got that? Here's where it gets good -- an "@message" is posted on your profile page for all to see.

    5. Ask Questions - One great way to add followers is to get people engaged so they'll send you a tweet back. There's no better way to get people to respond than to pose questions. Facebook quizzes have shown that people are willing to respond to even the silliest of public opinion polls. So throw some questions on your Twitter and see if you can get people talking. Ask what people's favorite TV show is or who should win American Idol.

    6. Link to Interesting Sites - It's easy to get mired down with mundane posts when you're using Twitter. Detailing what you had for breakfast may be fun for your family and close friends, but it's not a good way to get or retain followers. But linking to interesting articles or Web sites is. Many Web sites and blogs are nothing more than a collection of links to the most fascinating, unusual or ground breaking information on the Internet.

    7. Develop a Niche - One sure way to get some followers is to get specific about what you want to accomplish with your tweets. Random tweets about everything under the sun can get you some followers, but having a more targeted audience in mind and playing to those followers is a better approach. If you have a lot of knowledge about something, anything, then go with that.

    8. Repeat Yourself - This one may surprise you. You'd think that posting something more than once would only aggravate your followers. But if you're an avid tweeter, then chances are, your followers may not be reading each and every tweet you send out -- especially if you've disobeyed tip number nine and posted outside of peak hours. Repeat your best and most informative tweets several times during the day and see if you get an increase in followers.

    9. Post Pictures - A picture may be worth a thousand words, but in this case it just needs to be worth 140 characters. Everyone likes to look at pictures, and Twitter users are no different. Take the image of the US Airways flight 1549 that famously crashed into the Hudson River in January 2009. That image was posted and reposted on Twitter more than 350,000 times. If you were one of the early posters, then you had a good chance of picking up a lot of followers.

    10. Link Your Account - If you're connected enough to have a Twitter account, then chances are you use all kinds of other Internet outlets. You need to use every one of these to help promote your Twitter account. Post your Twitter information on your Facebook page. Post it on your blog. If you have accounts with Digg or a resume profile on LinkedIn, use those as well. You should even include your Twitter information as part of your e-mail signature.

Kindly hit THANKS if you agree with my points.

1st thing is complete your profile.

    1. Share quality contents.

    2. Go to the top accounts in your niche.
(for example pat flynn, neil patel are good for internet maketing)

    3. Follower their followers. Most of them will follow back you.
(do not follow more than 150 per day. Do not violate Twitter terms and condions)

    4. Use a tool like unfollowerstats.com to clean your account. (to unfollow non followers)

I got 1000+ targeted followers within 10 days from above method.

Don't be shy...place some relevant (sensible) hashtags in your Twitter bio. It's a great search tool and many aggregators rely on the type of tag, and some form of "search bio" function. Very cool way to get seen and possibly followed.

Stick to a niche and post consistently - not obsessively.

Whatever it is that you do (I'd heed the wise words those who've posted before me), don't set up one of those automated DM responses that destroy my inbox every single time I jump on Twitter. My goodness, those things are annoying. Surely the automated response doesn't actually do anything ....

I've found a great IFTTT recipe that helps grow your Twitter followers and target them all at the same time.

1.Find a targeted influencer in your niche, one that gets RT'd a lot, and remember their Twitter ID.

2.Create your THIS recipe and choose Twitter.

3.Choose Trigger "New Tweet From Search"

4.Complete Trigger field exactly like this-- "RT @(influencersTwitterHandle)

    5.Create Trigger.

    6. Choose Your "That" Recipe for Twitter again

7.Choose Action "Add User To List"

8.Only edit the list name. Make this good because they will see it.

    9.Create Action/ Create Recipe

This has worked very well in building my own Twitter over the past month. I don't portray to be a Twitter expert, but this has grown my following and targeted my Twitter to over 387% in the past 29 days. Normally the people you add to your list will follow you.
