Hi guys, do anyone here know if there is a tool that tracks the number of shares (FB) that a URL gets?

I'm creating a viral website and would like to track the daily shares that each post gets over a period of time. Ideally it should be in a reporting / graph manner..

I'm ok for a paying plan. Anyone knows?

Use URL shortners. You'll be able to track if anyone clicks on the links you post.

I know 2 websites that track shares(not on all social media websites though). Also no reporting, stats over time or graph.

    How Many Shares
ButtonSpace - Social Media Buttons | Social Network Buttons | Share Buttons

If your site is a Wordpress blog, then there are a lot of social media sharing plugins that track the number of shares.

    (I use SumoMe plugin suite)

All similar plugins track the shares over time, not only SumoMe. I don't know what exactly you've read, but why don't you check it in action?

I told you that I use it, didn't I? Check the second or the third link from my sig line. Once you land on one of my blogs, if you're on desktop you'll see a social share bar on the left side. That's SumoMe bar and it shows separately the number of likes, the number of shares on Facebook, and other shares on other networks.

In all honesty. Why analyze shares if they are free and very unpredictable . Just keep putting your content on Facebook and hope people share it.

Google analytics will say if the vistors came through via Facebook. So you would atleast know that your Facebook shares are growing.

Also. How would you know if someone from this site shared your site with someone via email. You wouldn't.

So all you should worry about is to keep on linking and hoping and keeping your site right.

Usually people on Facebook share things of actual meaning that they care about or think others would care about.

So good luck with the viral effect.

But viral is not tracked. It just happens.

Also. People share things in different manners. They may see it on Facebook. But share your link on twitter or instagram or MySpace or text or email or other forums or wherever and however.

So no software would be able to give you the full scope of who shared it and how they went about sharing it.

So just keep that good hustle going and hope for the best.

hi guys.. the reason that i want to track the shares is because I'm promoting a couple of posts at the same time. So after awhile, i'm looking to drop certain posts from my ad campaign and keep those that have healthy share counts.. hmm does this logic make sense?

It makes sense. The number of shares almost any social sharing plugin displays when you visit a page is related to THAT page. If you visit another page, there are different numbers. You're not the only one who has such a requirement

      Adrian

P.S. Some social sharing plugins, including the one I recommended, have more options - they can display

      1) the separate number of shares per social media network per page, and also the total number of shares per page
      2) only the total number of shares per page
      3) nothing.

You choose the settings. Some people choose #3 and that's why you don't see the number of shares when you visit their site. It's not that the plugin isn't good, it's the owner who decided not to show you the number of shares.

Hi Adrian, didn't know we can hide the shares.

To be clear, I don't mean viewing the number of shares from the button itself. I use 3rd party tracking sites like sharedcount.com All i need is to input the URL I'd like to check. Hence I don't think its possible to hide the stats.

Also I'm looking for something like sharedcount and many other sites. The give me the data I need, but thing is, it doesn't store the data or generates a daily tracking report for me. I have to manually put in the url myself every day if I want to see the daily changes.

          1) The plugins I mentioned don't hide the shares from the Internet If the blogger decides to do so, the shares aren't visible anymore on their blog. Like an on/off switch

          2) Now you added more requests in comparison to your original post. You should update it
