    If you use instagram and show yourself as a real person or business, and provide value you can build a list and make money from it.

    Of course you have to build a following and that takes time, but instagram I would consider a long term method. If you grow the account big over months you will get more and more leads

      This is so wrong !! Instagram is not like FB you first have to have a product the plastic people want the best way is to find persons who have lots of likes and get the to promote your product for you

      I would go to the social media sub forum on here and scope it out for some better answers

        This is it. Network, and tap into the followers of "influencers" on Instagram.

        If you have good products, giving them away for free and paying a commission on sales is the best way I've seen to attract influencers. If you notice, many "influencers" will have a code in their profile and a link to discount.

        Once you grow your own following, you can offer to trade posts with other influencers in your niche/market. Promote for them, they promote for you.

        But, as others have said, Instagram is great for some markets - weight loss, fitness - to name a few because they're so visual. So, make sure your market is compatible with the users on Instagram.

    Maybe the hard part of marketing in instagram is that you can't put link on your post/s.
    So using the most appropriate hash tag will do the marketing for you.
    Anyway, there is way now to advertise your product, maybe you should try that.

    instagram is app for selfie, taking photo, i think this is not good idea for business like affiliate marketing, except that you open store, restaurant or something else

    I was having a totally normal and professional chat with another marketer but I could tell he was probably 17 years old and out of the blue he said he "acquired"/jacked some one else's very popular Instagram account.

    Not only that but he said the guy he "acquired/jacked" the account from they were speaking cam to cam about it and the guy cut his throat over losing his popular Instagram account.

    Have not had a chance to share that story probably wanted to forget I ever heard it.

    As with any traffic source you are researching one of the first things you need to find out is one where is the majority of the traffic coming from and two what are the demographics of that traffic and is it the same demographic as the people needing my products and services.

    I would argue that Instagram is great for almost any market. Some products should definitely be highlighted more than others on this medium, but whether you are a motivational speaker, a large corporation like Target or Walmart, a small startup tech company, or a restaurant, you can make almost any kind of content interesting through clever photos and captions, "live" video, designs etc. The opportunities are virtually endless content wise. I agree with those that are saying you should only post good quality photos if you have an Instagram though, not random selfies or obvious amateur photographs.
