YouTube Live Events description link click through rate - tiny/zero?

Has anybody had any success/ got any tips on how to get clicks on a link in YouTube description boxes?

I have put a large number of live events (not a video just a thumbnail image with a call to action to "click the link below in the description") but struggle to get any clicks at all.

They are Live Events on good search terms with a page 1 Google ranking but I cannot get clicks on the description link.

Thanks in advance.

With just a thumbnail get someone to click on a link would be hard. Just think for yourself, you searched for something over YT and eventhough your video is on #1 but the content is crappy then visitors will move to next videos since they got options.

So best is to focus on making the video quality better and afterwards you can expect some clicks.
