Why and How YouTube Blocks Some Videos

Hi,

This is Osman from Bahrain.

Got some questions about YouTube...

I uploaded a video and then when I tried watching it from another browser, got this error: "This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds."

Couple of queries:

1. Who's SME?? They seem to block a lot of videos in a lot of countries!!

2. How can Youtube block a video in my country if I am the one who uploaded the video in the first place?

3. How does Youtube determine which video to block on copyright grounds? Unless the actual owner of the content marks my video as copyrights infringement.... and even then it would take some time for the actual owner to come across my video and mark it as spam or something..... but youtube blocks my videos the moment i upload them!

Is there any way to get around this problem?

Will creating a youtube account from a different country (using proxy) solve this?

    It's not the video...it's the soundtrack...

    They ban a lot because they own a lot.

    My experience is that youtube have a list of artists, song titles etc.

    If these appear in the titles and text of your videos...it'll be blocked/banned

    Try some royalty free music and see what happens

    Their (Google's) technology is so smart that it can easily catch if your video content and/or its soundtrack are copyrighted or not? People think its only soundtrack. No, sir, its could be content as well.

    You know, videos compose of a series of frames (still images). Likewise, Google's reverse search can tell if two images are identical or not, they might have developed technology which can detect plagiarised video content. In other words, if you're uploading duplicate content, they'll know it, and can block it.

    They do these for a number of reasons:

    (1) copyright issues
    (2) HDD space. Videos occupy much HDD space, naturally they're reluctant to serve you if you don't offer valuable fresh content, which can be monetised. Afterall, they need to buy hardware for you, which should come from advertisers' pocket.

    Your audio and video content should either be royalty free or should be your original. Make sure that your videos do not occupy too much space. Make your contents good.

    Hello,
    your title and content should be mixed and same by owner,They should be notice on youtube that this video is uploading not be other and it is only owner own create video,you also collect the video on social media and other,It is not for your video,For that your video blocked on youtube not your country,It is blocked world wide.....

    You audio has copyright issues. You can use NCS soundtrack, it's free. Look them up on youtube

    They block once it infringes someone else's copyright. Better use royalty-free audio or something.
