How can I get a Facebook page to get more likes?

Also, how can I get more comments and reposts to the posts on that Facebook page?

Thanks for all of your help!

I've been wondering this for a while too! :-)

I've done a little research and a lot of it repeats and seems to be:

    > First, get your family and friends to like it and grow from there.
    > Then, regularly update it and potentially do an initial offer.
    > Comment on related pages as long as its quality so people can trust that you have something to say of -value- to them.
    > I've even heard of people 'buying likes' from Facebook, although not everyone agrees its a good mechanism.

    Hope that helps!

Out of curiosity, and if you don't mind (), how many and how quick would you say you've gained 'Likes' from your page since you started?

    2 ways for "conversion":

    A: Free stuff
    B: State strong opinions.

It will turn some people waaay off and they will not like, but it will turn some people Waaay on, and they WILL.

If no one is clicking then you arent making strong enough statements.

If it doesnt turn anybody on and its middle of the road, you get mediocre results.

If you say something that pisses a bunch of people off, then they will post their opinions back for instance...then when they do that, a bunch of people will rush to defend your point, and you have fans.

Look up Michael Hiles Blog and the article "Haters Gonna Hate".

I didnt learn it there, but he puts in in the most clear way I can imagine, and I "confirmed it" there.

Pick something highly controversial to talk about and let people hate you if they want to, you will funnel down to a concentrated group of people who totally would die for the same cause, then you have not just a weak dilluted following, but a strong concentrated one.

It's all about the DRAMA. When I write for my blogs, I always work to get inside the mind of the reader and appeal to FEAR / HOPE / LOVE. Simple. Direct. But tons of variations. Gets people sharing

Just as long as it is the TRUTH, you won't get sued. Make sure your materials are accurate despite the dramatic angle you took. Also, make sure to BUILD PEOPLE up regardless of how harsh the writing might come off at first, your goal should be to build people up and make them better. These two are the foundations for a REAL SOLID business that is good for the long haul. Too many "dramatic" bloggers out there burn out because they focus too much on PIMPING their readers instead of helping them confront internal issues and pushing them to go HIGHER.

    • Um, you might want to keep in mind that you do not own your Facebook page. Facebook does. And they can delete it at any time with no notice to you, as they have been known to do with some "controversial" issues.

How much effort do you want to go to in developing someone else's property?

Well, lets imagine you setup a store in a new neighbourhood. What are the things you do? Introduce yourself properly, let them know your background a bit and explain to them about what you are going to offer, invite them for the inaguaration and be courteous all through. Build relationship, offer them something exclusive be it attention or freebies/discounts.It takes a bit of time and effort but it helps you build long lasting relationships with your clients/potential clients. Same is the case with Facebook, except that we are in a global village in there. So, plan and build.Be patient. No short cuts - would u like some one trying to sell you? You would want to buy not to be sold.Isnt it? Same with most of others.

Hey microhappiness... create something of real value to your visitors, something that meets their need... then give it away to them for free!

It's called "like-reveal"... they like your offer and in return you reveal it to them once 'liked'.

Really easy to implement and highly effective.

Facebookers will like your post or page if it captures their attention or interest. Find the best interests of your Facebook friends or fans. If they're photographers, you may post some pictures, articles, facts, or statistics regarding photography. Find their common denominator so as to say.

I did that the other day. I created a "fan page", by creating a new account, new email, and didn't link it to my personal facebook and I had no search bar on top, I had no way of seeing the pages that I liked.. So I just went to my personal facebook, created a fan page through there and bingo, it works very similar to my personal page. I can search for other groups, fan pages and etc to like. Good think I only had a few likes for the other page and i just discontinued that and kept the new one. So far though, I've only had my friends "like" my page. I need to find a way to get it out there and have more ppl to like it other than my friends... input anyone? I saw ppl buying "likes" from fiverr.. is that a good thing?

You can try like and share exchange groups of facebook. This way I increase my pages like.

I go to this groups and ask members to like or share my page instead I offer them I will like and share your page.

I found this useful because most of the like I get are from real likes.

Cool content is something that keeps the Fans interested, but you still need a strategy to get them to your page in the first place.

Simple Facebook ads worked the best for me. An image, short 1-sentence message, and call to action (typically something like "Click Like if you agree"). Ads are set up per 1000 impressions, and you can get couple of hundred Likes very quickly and cheaply. Just keep the message of your ad simple and make it something, that most readers would agree with. And of course, the image is very important too and should grab attention.

You might find it weird but even totally unrelated stuff like funny photos or sometimes even touching photos will drive people into your site for likes and comments. Ofcourse free stuff also works well, some trades fb likes for coupons..hope these suggestions helps.

Images and videos get passed around Facebook more than anything..How many cute cat and puppy videos have you seen?

What kind of images and videos that are entertaining can you do for your market? At the very least, you can put together inspirational and motivational images with your brand on them.

Also, for engagement, don't be salesy. Social media is for the long term, not the quick buck. Tell people about something embarrassing that has happened to you lately and ask them what their most embarrassing experience is...that kind of thing gets people to respond even when it has nothing to do with your market.

You are trying to build a relationship with these people over time, not sell them right now. Why do you respond on your personal page when your friend makes a post? Same concept!

Post something interesting. Something that everyone or if not most of your target audience will hit like, or post comments. Make it simple. And you need to send or submit your website to as many search engines as you can.

Sometimes it's so obvious. Here's what I know, and also what I do:

-Google, "Free blog contests" or something like that.
-Sort by "blogs" and next by either month or week

More than likely what will pop up is a blogger promoting a contest, looking for other blogs to hop in and join them. A "free blog contest" means that you can join your blog in for free promotion in the contest, if you post an announcement post about the contest, and that's it. Wait for an email with further instructions around the time the contest starts. And/or you can pay a small fee to add more links, such as a Twitter account etc, or there are even some that require you to have so many Facebook "likes" before they are interested in you joining. Believe it or not, there are a lot of free blogging opps. I am signed up for 5 currently for August, and 1 is going on right now. Of course, this will work wonders for gaining fans, but if you are looking for targeted traffic, this is better for the work at home moms or review blogs. Every now and then though, you can find a contest that might work for your niche.

I started a new blog recently, still around the basis of being frugal. The idea for this blog was to try and update every other day with recipes, frugal tips, etc. Compared to my other blog, it will need less work in terms of not having to update multiple times a day. As of last Friday, I had 0 Facebook Friends. As of today, I have 242 "likes" all because I joined in on a FREE blog contest that is all targeted in my niche. I could have paid a small fee, $2-3 to add a Twitter link or what not. But for now, I am working on using free sources.

    Hope this helps someone!

I am working on a WSO, because all I do is Facebook (day job and consultant) and I think by FAR the most effective thing you can do is run some ads or sponsored stories. You can set a LOW budget, but sponsored stories will show your page to friends of people who like your page. It's like peer pressure and it works SO well! ALWAYS pay per 1,000 impressions, it can be really cheap like 17-45 cents, and can generate like 5-6 clicks compared to paying $1.20 for one click with PPC

YES! I totally agree. I've been doing this and I added over 1K likes in around 3 days of running some ads. I am getting .9-.11 cent clicks.

Don't pander to your followers or sell your product. The number one way to increase everything social is to think about your target audience/client/user and give them related content that's super interesting and engage them based on their interest, don't sell to them and the following will grow.

One way to find great content is to Stumble It

    1. Try to comment on other peoples posts that are closely related to the niche you are in.

    2. Look at what is getting good likes, comments, shares etc and start to add your own spin to them by positng these at other times and intervals.

    3. Pictures that "Stand Out" and attract attention always seem to get shared and commented on so wherever you see a chance to post on a "WALL" that has big numbers of likes and people regularly visit, post useful comments, and add pictures that relate to the comments.

    4. This will give you a good reputation and people will start to like Your Fan Page and share your comments and pictures.

    5. You only need to do this for around 30 minutes a day, just keep up the momentum and you will start to see the likes rolling in steadily every day.

Hop this helps and have a great day!!!

There's many sites where you can buy facebook likes and such. There's also some that you earn credits by liking other people's facebook or visiting/following their twitter, youtube, google plus. Then you use those credits to get people to like your stuff. A good free site that I know is social clerks.

Wow! So many great ideas here! What an awesome resource the Warrior's Forum is!

I think there have already been so many great answers! I think the only thing I would chime in with is that I did start a page using family and friends. The problem (of course) is that a lot of them are just doing it to be nice, not necessarily because they are interested in your page. But they are usually nice to share your page and you will probably gain a few people who are in your demographic.

I recently ran some ads and saw about 200 new likes in a short time period of people who are actually interested in what I am doing...which is super nice. I did the cost per impression thing and it worked out just fine. This seems to be the quickest, easiest way to get some likes (but it does cost a little). However, I still don't see a lot of interaction with what I am posting yet...

I have noticed that what gets commented on and reposted are generally things that the majority of people are interested in...maybe not so much just my niche (does that make sense)? So, if I have a guitar page on FB people aren't necessarily going to go out and share and repost my videos (unless they are super funny or something) because their friends aren't necessarily interested in the guitar. However, if I post a funny guitar photo, a musical saying that gets some laughs, or even an old photo of my Dad playing guitar from 50 years ago all the sudden I get reposts, comments, and a lot more sharing.

Same with a running page I have. Whenever I post actual running tips or good info related to running that you would think everyone would want to know...not much response. But as soon as I post funny or cool, motivational photos...I get comments, shares, likes, and even gain a few new likes to my page.

So - I guess it depends a lot on your audience and what you are trying to do, but the whole non-salesy approach and giving people something to share and talk about that is somewhat universal seems to work for me?!

I think it boils down to content really. If you write posts that evoke thought or emotion you will engage more people thus get more likes/followers. The time of day you post and length of post is important. keep it long or short and post early in morning or dinner time in my opinion.

It's a catch-22, but you have to keep posting even if/when there's no one there; you have to get over about 1k fans for ppl to start giving a rip, then it usually takes off. Get a plugin that allows u to schedule posts from a blog w/the option to manually send out to all or just a few networks, hide those posts from your frontpage, and post away w/other ppl's content that you acquired through general content acquisition.. then don't stop - best way to get it done

To get facebook likes, what I did to my own Fanpage was to first like my own page. i started out with my two facebook accounts. Then, I talked to my friends about it and Sent Invites to all my friends on my list.
That was how I started. I posted on other pages in the same niche as myself inviting members from there to like my page.
This I did until I got to 503 Likes. Then, I did my first Facebook Ad campaign spending $5 for 3days campaign, promoting my best posts.
After the first 3Days I got 1000+ Likes. This I did two more times and at the moment, i'm at 5000+ Likes just after 3 weeks.

    Hope this helps.

Don't inundate your page with links and pictures of your products. That bores people out very quickly.

Make a post at least 4 times a week.

Post interesting pictures often (I would say 1/5 posts). For example, stuff from 9gag, viral news stuff, cute animal photos, photomemes

Post interesting relevant pictures (2 or 3 out of every 5 posts). For example, I sell cute Japanese beauty items and people really like pictures of makeup tutorials (pinterest is a great source).

Entice customers to post photo reviews or video reviews on your FB page by running promos like an FB monthly photo contest or "get 15% off if you post a review on Facebook."

On all your webpages, install a like button that links to your Facebook page so all likes collected from your website go towards your FB page.

Posting continuous offers to customers in fan pages , instead of buying likes you can target to get a minimum no of likes likes initially by posting high quality content and images according to your fan page niche and if you have like gated content where in user should click on like to access a few tips that you are going to post about your niche or an ebook download or a video download in the post like page, that would help too to force people to like , once you reach your first 1000 it would be a cake walk to grow virally from there.
