Social Media - Yes I've been under a rock, basic questions?

I never really got into the social networking thing, I'm plenty social just not on social networks(facebook, twitter). I like Warrior forums and Reddit and that's about it. I don't even know how to use Facebook. Recently I built a new website that will heavily rely on them. I'm setting up the "Social Share Tool Kit" and I'm not sure what I'm doing. I am making a "page" on facebook, but can't find the id to make the like and share buttons work.

Is there a good beginners guide to this, I've looked online but everything I find assumes I already know how to use them.

1. My questions are how do I properly setup social sharing links?
2. Any tips on how to "socialize" a website or business?

Thanks

Check out my Getting Social Plan. It explains in detail (with graphics) how to utilize a blog and the major social networking websites. The idea is to have a blog that you regularly post to and then post updated about each blog post on your social networking profiles. It's also good practice to socialize with people interested in your topic at the social hangouts to build up the amount of people that are fans or followers of your social profiles.

A regularly updated blog with plenty of images is a good way to go. You can then set up accounts with Pinterest (for your images) and Live journal and Tumblr where you can post snippets of your blog posts and entice readers to visit your site.

Thanks for the suggestions, actually that's what I've created, a very image rich website. I've been working to setup the sharing buttons and testing it with my wife's facebook account. I've made some progress but when I log into my "fan Page" after clicking the like button, logged in as her, (from my website) it doesn't show the like(on my fan page). I'm doing something wrong in the setup but just don't know what. I've been getting some traffic, but If others have liked it, I wouldn't know it at this point. Pinterest is giving me some trouble too because it doesn't show the image on the "pin" page. :/

I'm sure I'll get it all worked out, it's just working through the process.
