I believe (don't quote me on this) that it's longer images, similar to infographics. Almost like a type of collage.

Thanks for these tips, they are great. I think the ones about linking Pinterest to your other social media profiles are key. The images size and shape is one I haven't heard before, that is interesting. Do you have any sources supporting that?

Hi, does anyone knows if pinterest has started banning accounts due to self promotion?
If I create an account and pin all images from my site, is there a risk of wasting my time by seeing the whole board deleted or not?

It's much easier to post and like other pins rather than doing stuffs that doesn't work out. At Pinterest you have what you need, a platform, people, traffic, but less in communications.

This is the basic "how to" of Pinterest. Actually if you are collaborating more often with your followers, you have a good chance on attracting repins. Of course your primary needs are pictures that is really irresistible. Have you tried posting "quotations" and famous lines? That's is also a good source of traffic.

You have already added the point "User Taller Images". I would add more detail to it. Design infographics (which are tall) and include your business logo in them and publish it in Pinterest. Infographics go viral in Pinterest and it is proven

Best is to go some further and decorate your images to make them really stand out. I put banners over mine which I create easily in an image editing program and put titles on it - or, even better, a button with a call to action
