It could be, but what is most important is that those social networking site gives the traffic and brings your site closer to your target audience. Using Google+ is advanced form facebook. Social Media makes your website important as per Google. Just do some postings, but make keep it swiftly. you might be suspended for violating their Terms and Conditions on using their account.

I have noticed that Links from Facebook account are no-follow.. So I don't think so that will help to get backlinks but yes.. they are surely helping to traffic towards your website.

All links count whether they are follow or no follow. Social Buzz by way of consistant interaction on Facebook, Google+, Twitter etc will be a very important part of Google algorithm so I've been told. I personally get thousands of visits via my Twitter account which I have built to 24,000 Followers over the past couple of years.

Social Media backlink would not able to show in google webmastertools and i believe none backlink checker able to provide backlink regarding social media .
But it do actually count if the backlink to bring intraction between your website and facebook .
Do spend sometime in Google + as well because social media will bringing impact on SEO .
gain more interaction with like , share , retweet, comment and so on.

FB not providing any sort of backlinking to website as you seen over webmaster A/c. You can create Fan Page & can strengthen your profile over there by posting useful & relevant information by providing link to your blog or posting sites..

they are nofollow
they don't count much but still helpful to get traffic
i mean one can post 1000 backlinks in a day on own facebook page
so they don't count much
your site or video can go viral if Facebook users like , share your link

Yes, Links on Facebook count as back links. Also important to note that so do links on other social networks like Pinterest, Linkedin, and I believe Twitter.
