guest posts? how?

I noticed people talking about Guest Posts as a great way to drive traffic?

Is there a smart way to go about this... or is it simply asking a popular blogger to post something on your blog...

please enlighten me

    The simple answer is contact the blog/website owners.

    I have Guest Posters on my site, but I also accept submissions, which is all pretty much trust based. If I don't know you you're not getting a slot. If you don't know the subject matter of my site, you're definitely not getting a 2nd email opened. I am able to command a decent piece of my favorite subject too so there aren't very many other places to go.

    Contact the webmasters in an email that does not sound canned or form letter-like and ask from a point of genuine interest. Have some type of sample ready to go too. You're NOT going to get a post going in blind and I'd never allow it without seeing if you know the subject matter, fluent English, etc.

      I agree with the guy above.

      Ask people if you can blog. It helps if you can write well and are fluent in english but if you don't ask you will never know.

      Maybe try some local businesses or established organizations in your city that you might be able to work with. It's a win-win situation if you have good content and they have a good site that they don't have the man power to update everyday.

    I haven't tried this site but I found a network of guest blogs you can join. There might be other out there if you look around.
