I am using these and some others too, to increase my blog traffic. I am not getting very much traffic from Facebook or Linkedin. Don't know why. But getting good amount of traffic from twitter and pinterest.

I am using all of the above. Mainly I get more traffic from Facebook and StumbleUpon which is a book marking site. I also get many likes from Pinterest. I use Flicker and Google+ which has also served me to attract traffic to my site.

I really need to try Pinterest and see how it goes.

Currently I am doing some promotion using Facebook and Twitter but today my main source of traffic continues to be SEO.

Though I am getting some increase in direct traffic because I started blogging more often.

It is difficult to work on all social networking site. i would suggest Facebook, twitter and stumble upon to share your blog. Follow the maximum people on daily basis in response they follow you. like their post, so they like yours etc. its all about creating a big network of people and groups.

Every network is different, and there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I notice that most people in India seem to prefer Facebook to Twitter. Is that your target audience?

Some conversations are great for Twitter (discussions about issues like news, social issues, etc). Facebook is good for sharing pictures and memes... you'll really have to try and see, and you'll have to figure out what you're specifically trying to achieve. Every community/niche is different.

There doesn't seem to be a lot of youtube suggestions. Maybe not as many people count it as social media? I say it does. Remember it is #2 search engine. In addition to all the regulars like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc., having a strong youtube presence is important too.

It really all depends. If your product or service can benefit a lot from visual elements like photos, you could use something like Pinterest or Flickr. Then again, Facebook is still the biggest option out there with the most usage and Twitter is pretty close as well. Even though Yahoo! just bought it, Tumblr is very popular and easy to promte and you can build yourself a lot of quick and easy backlinks with it. I'm not a huge fan of Google+ at this point but that could change.

I use pinterest efficiently for traffic. (particularly if you have quality Images)

Facebook is difficult in earlier stage. But once you have established your page / account, it gives you definite boost.
Same goes for twitter.

Google plus is emerging player. and has really big effect on SEO and page rank.

Reddit, Stumbleupon, etc. cannot be seen as social networking sites. They are social sharing sites.

It all depends on what your blog is about.

If your blog target women then Pinterest is the place to be. You should also target Facebook groups in your niche and Google+ communities in your niche.

However if you are in the IM or make money niche social media marketing is far less effective. The reason for this is because all the internet marketers are usually just posting their ads and know one is really reading other people's stuff.

But outside of the IM niche you can find groups in Facebook and Google+ where the community is very active. As long as you don't spam the groups you join you can get some very targeted traffic.

For me personally it is TuneZup.com a social network for the automotive and car tuning industry. But I have to be honest, I’m a co-owner of website as well ))

Facebook for me is getting too complicated.
YouTube I use only for watching videos.
Google plus I never tried to understand it.
Twitter, well sending a short message in to the world, is that social?
Pintrest, yes that I find fun, but all we really do is sharing pictures.

But still I use them all. )))

I few years ago I was making lots of sales using twitter using tweetadder etc. Had 60,000 followers on my main account. But Twitter then started targeting anyone using software they suspended all my accounts. I think Twitter is fine but if you want to use it to build a serious business income.. Then you are gambling on what mood the twitter employees are in on that day..

So personally I would say have a Twitter account but don't waste too much time or energy on it. Plus now with no automation tools hardly working makes it even more of a pain in the butt...

Better stick to Facebook,VK,or the new ENV2 Platform launching soon.. If you want to be able to have a chance of a solid business foundation.. And even Facebook is dodgy.. With all their crazy algorithyms..

I would have to say that Facebook is the best for blog posts as it combines lots of people and lots of people that can be interested in your blog posts.
Also I find the time it takes to learn to navigate and tweek a new profile is better spent posting on something your familiar with.

I really like Facebook and Twitter. I'm just getting started with Google+ and I'm liking that as well. Each one has lots of traffic and I think it's best to utilize all three. The more exposure to your site the better in my opinion, especially if it's targeted.

All depends on what your niche is G+ is great for anything overall and google obviously will rank you higher in the search. If you have a female niche Pinterest might be your best bet it is exploding and the masses are not using it as much as facebook or twitter, but they all are powerful if you use hootsuite you can syndicate to all of them at the same time. This will compress time and boost sales or what ever you are promoting.

yes I agree with Marcus...my you tube channel sends me a lot of traffic.Next one has got to be facebook. It does tend to come off a little saturated depending on what niche you are marketing to....but i heard a surprising statistic on Google + that only 20% of people who actually have a google + account are actually active on it. i'm still getting warmed up to it. but i'm sure that can also be a good thing for quality traffic!

I like some of the previous replies. From my experience, it depends on your site/content. I've found different social networks useful for different projects. For example, some of the best results for news projects have come from Reddit whereas an enterprise project had best results from LinkedIn.

As always, testing and measuring can help you get results.

All social networking sites are good in different ways, but if you are asking for traffic generation then obviously Facebook comes first and then comes twitter and then the rest.

Facebook ads are very amazing for targetted traffic generation, it is less expensive as compared to other prgrams like adwords.

Facebook all time. There are so many people on facebook so you could easily ad on Facebook to drive a lot of traffic to your blog. My team are using facebook as much as we can and we flood traffic trough it....
