FB Likes through Boosting?

I just started boosting posts on my facebook page. It is for a small charity project, so I'm trying to keep costs low.

Can you give me any suggestions on how to get more likes for my page through promoting my posts? It seems that they are liked, and sometimes shared but the new likes for my FB page are very low in comparison.

Is it possible, and a good idea to request they like my page on a post and promote it? At the moment, I'm posting funny pictures that are on target with the charity audience.

Thanks

Try FB ads. Promote your fan page, not the post.. FB page always comes at the top in Facebook..

Only EVER boost posts that are an image/short video (under 30 secs).
Also you need to judge whether that image could go viral and is easily likeable.
For example, most things revolved around humour work well. So do little corny quotes. haha

Boosting a post is not a good way to get likes for the page. When you promote the post people will see the post in there news feed and have the opportunity to to like the post. But there is no opportunity for them to like the page unless they stop what there doing and head to your fan page (almost no one will do this)

Run a Facebook ad that is set to target likes, This will give people the opportunity to like the page from right in the ad instead of just liking the post. Also CPM for a Facebook ad is often much lower than CPM for a boosted post.

Well said ...I think what you have said makes a lot more sense.
