Are the likes of Digg, Stumbleupon, and even
URL.ORG still valuable resources for internet marketers?

I know that there are many more out there.

    There are different kinds of bookmarks.

    PLIGG bookmarks work very well. But keep in mind to use social bookmarking as part of your promo strategy.

    I would suggest to still use them because I do and they work. I have several first page rankings and I use bookmarking as part of my SEO strategy.

    StumbleUpon, Reddit which can deliver traffic to your site.

    Yes social bookmarking is a good way to get free website traffic and back link, you just need to use good sites like stumbleupon, reddit, pinterest etc and like on your bookmark really help your site to boost up.

    They made give new site a palpable jump start. But of course one shouldn't be overly zealous. And besides bookmarks there have to be social signals as well.
    Also, do you research and find out which networks are the most valuable from the SEO point of views. Because most of them are nofollow, or do not allow search engines crawl them too deeply. If so, there isn't much value in them for you.

    Hi Kevin,

    SB is effective so long as you give before you get. Bookmark OPC - Other People's Content - aggressively on these sites. Make friends. Then when 10, 50 or 100 people begin to bookmark your stuff, because you bookmarked their stuff daily, you will begin to get some traction.

    My blog just hit a 40,000 Alexa ranking this morning, passed 41 K last night. Aggressively promoting and bookmarking others for years played a big part in my rapid drop, along with creating good content frequently.

    Social bookmarking is one of the best ways to improve website traffic. It is easily indexed on search engines. Most social bookmarking sites are good for backlinking, not good for direct traffic. Do only high pr bookmarking it helps a lot.
