URLs rejected by FB ads - why?

I tried my first ad campaign in FB and upon entering the URL I was promoting an error message read: "You've entered a destination that can't be promoted." At first I thought it was because it was an affiliate URL so I tried the URL of a website I have, just a simple WP blog. Same message.

I Googled for answers and others have had the same problem but no one had a one-solution-fits-all answer. Some said try different browsers (I did), some said anti-virus software was the problem (it wasn't for me) and one guy gave some super-techie answer involving php and changing meta tags or something.

Anyone here have any ideas? Thanks.

I would have suggested trying another link but you've already done that. And, it seems most of the ideas anyone could come up with have already been tried. And, I'm assuming you have been able to promote via Facebook ads, so it's not like your Facebook ad account was banned or restricted. I'm going to do some research on this issue on Google and see if I can come up with a more definitive answer, because at the moment I can't think what else you could try.
