Twitter just doesn't convert well. People who are using Twitter just aren't in the right brain state to sit down and read copy—much less go through a check out process. They want to hop from one thing to the other.

You can, however, use Twitter to get people to your content. If you can get them to opt-in from there, you stand a chance of building a relationship. Then you can get them to convert down the road.

On the whole, you get what you pay for.

I wouldn't. I would lead them to the content on my own site. Said content will of course have social share buttons, so if they connect with the content they might share it anyway or visit my social pages.

If the content on your own domain is unique and authoritative, you stand a much better chance of getting a sale.

Switching from Twitter to Facebook traffic presents a problem: your followers still aren't in buying mode. However, if you can transform even a fraction of that following into an active list, you'll have a powerful marketing platform on your hands. Then you have an opportunity to build trust with a receptive audience.

I'm getting into email marketing now, which is a bit off topic, so I'll just say this: strive to provide value in your emails and your list will be much more receptive to learning about your product or service.

Hi Arclite, you can send them to an opt-in landing page, that should work, so when they check their emails away from twitter's distractions and so on, they can subscribe depending on your messaging marketing efforts, then establish a relationship with them before promoting products.

Twitter is no good for selling. It is good; however, for building your list. Send them to a Landing Page, offer something useful for free and collect email addresses for your list.

If you want to make some money off your 80k followers, try selling tweets on Fiverr. You can create a gig to tweet a link to your followers for 5 bucks a pop. If you want to undersell other offering the same service, offer more tweets for the price. Schedule them with Buffer or SocialOomph over a period of time. Offer a lot of value...include images, etc. You can make more doing that than you ever could trying to sell anything to your Twitter followers.

Insider Tip: People LOVE nice big branded images on social media. It's easy and quick just to slap their URL on a relevant image and send it with their tweet. Good luck!

I've tried over and over again to get twitter traffic to either buy something from my affiliate link or sign up to my squeeze page, and I always got terrible results. Doesn't surprise me because people on twitter are not looking to buy or sign up to stuff.

Here's the tricky part there: You need to have targeted twitter followers. What would be the use of so many Twitter followers if none of them if really that much interested with your product. For example, I do sell a recipe book but all of my twitter followers concerns just about money making. Definitely I will not have any sales. It's great to have even though 5k followers only as long as they are interested with your products. I hope you get my point.

Additionally, learn to maximize the features of Twitter (especially the hashtag).

Direct Selling is not recommended as the conversion is poor.

Instead get subscribers and then monetize them.

What to sell? Your content Write free blog posts and shoot free videos, explaining in's and out's of your niche, then when people sense you're out to help them, and not use them for money, you'll get sales. Now I sense most of your 80 K followers don't care about you, or trust you, because if you built bonds with them, a few would be buying from you. All the best!

as an extremely reputable social media marketer on bhw, the truth about twitter is that they dont convert well. what you can do is sell RTs and also use adsense monetization, but you cant post links and stuff too much because you'll hinder your content value. that is really all you can do op.

Twitter is not a selling site, here you can only promote you products and with twitter you have this privilege to post updates and make announcements so that people will be intrigued with what you actually have and eventually visit your website for better traffic.

As per my observations , Blog posting and then use social media to promote your business will be good idea than only twitter itself.

Twitter doesn't convert for me too
However I do send traffic to squeeze page
and do build list from there.
Maybe you consider building list from your Twitter followers.

It is important that you have a PayPal account so your twitter advertising network can transfer money to your account as soon as you earn. Go to PayPal.com, you will direct each step for opening a new account. If for example your account have a thousand followers, you will easily make money by selling tweet to tweeter advertising networks or find products that closely related to your keywords and sell them yourself. Here is the link of Click2sell, where you can find many great products to sell on your twitter account with no fee upfront at all.

You can just get a client who's interested for you to post their link/website because of promoting. Some back link sellers hire a twitter owner with a lots of followers do this.
