I really think it depends on your niche. I work a Texas site and their FB works better than Twitter. I work an auction site and their Twitter works better than FB.

Get to know your audience and when you discover that, then you'll know which social media will help you promote your brand best.

There are actually a lot. Stumbleupon, Pinterest, Diigo are among those high quality social networks. Also, it would be easier to have a lot of social media profiles and manage them through social media tools like Hootsuite and Postific.

Has any one heard of rebel mouse? Every one was raving about it and I wasted my time setting up my accounts on it. What a waste of time! Any one else use it? I think instead of using stuff that accumulates all the social media accounts just use each individual ones.

Facebook's okay if you're willing to pay. Organic reach is terrible now.

Twitter's okay but full of spammers and fake accounts and hard to reach the right people. It just seems like a competition to get the most followers and little interaction.

I've had the most success with Google plus. on 16th June I set up a page for a website of mine and have been building an audience casually since then. I've just had one post shared 500 times, 1100 likes and 250 comments. The page has had over 800,000 views. Free service and great response.

In comparison I have a FB page with over 10,000 fans and I get maybe 20 likes and a few comments when I post. Expensive to get real fans and unless you pay to promote only 5-10% even get to see your posts.

Having said that Stumbleupon can generate huge traffic if you can build up a bit of momentum.

Hi. Facebook and Twitter are great for advertising.

With Facebook - you need to be sure to use different types of posts to draw attention to your page. Use photos, ask questions to your audience for commenting, post videos if possible. Post often enough to keep you on their newsfeed, but not so much they want to hide you.

With Twitter, think buzzword, retweeting worthy and again post often.

It depends on your target. Remember that you can do great mapping of internet marketing when you know, first, your goal and second, your target.
Take a look at the following:
1. Facebook still dominates at 70% of account ownership but Google+ is not far behind at just over 50%.
2. Facebook has nearly 50% of all the world's internet users as active users.
3. Google+ has very large numbers on visits per month at 1,203 million.
4. Facebook though dominates engagement, 62% of all its account owners being active in the last month of this study.
5.Twitter is about daily activities
6. Facebook maintains the highest penetration of active users among account owners at 62% globally. This compares to 51% for Twitter and 44% for Google+

Facebook and Google plus are both pretty awesome, but Facebook is leading the market. On the other hand, marketing on Facebook is far more expensive than marketing on Google+. They are all good it depends upon who you're targeting and how you target them. If I am the one running a business, I would be using all of them. I would target the customers on each one of them differently, and I would try to maximize my traffic from all three platforms. It works better than way, we shouldn't put all our eggs in one basket.

All 3 are good. they have their good points and some bad points.

Facebook - Pros: biggest source for exposure and traffic
Cons: being Facebook slapped for the simplest things and no one to talk to.
Or, fix the issue.If,you didn't read the daily algorithm change.

Twitter - Pros: getting a certain age group. Ex. 18 35 age range.This could be higher,but.It depends on your product or service. Your tweeting.
Cons: Allot of people,will check it and some,might respond. But you better be retentive,to your demographic age audience.

G+ - Pros: you can use everyone or just your list and get organic exposure.
Cons: If you get a bad name or product or service review.This could kill your ad or comment.From going viral.

Don't forget to look into, Linkin or Pintrist and Instagram.To build your traffic and possible sales too.

I am a big fan of Pinterest & Instagram now. You need a huge budget to spend on Facebook Ads if you want decent followers at the very beginning. Twitter is okay if you target your audience carefully. The best thing about Instagram is that it doesn't allow outbound links which mean less spammers more engagements. IMO, one cannot simply rely on just one social platform and be satisfied.
Almost everyone has a facebook profile and the default google+ profile then there are those who need constant communication (tweet or photo) and for such users twitter and instagram is more popular. For working professionals, there is simply nothing better than linkedin.
Having an account on just one social platform would loose you an important userbase.

Instagram is the most popular and engaging right now, and it's you can gain a following fairly quickly by getting some shoutouts and constantly engaging with your target audience. It is totally dependant on what you are trying to promote and who your targetted audience is.

Let me explain with examples.

Example 1: If you are selling jewelry then your best social media is Pinterest. As it is one of the most popular things that are pinned.

Example 2: If you have made a keyword research tool which you are trying to promote then you have to try Twitter because you can find most copywriters and marketers (Search Engine Optimisers) there.

Example 3: If you have a fitness center and you are trying to promote your fitness center then Instagram and Facebook is your best bet.

I hope it is clear now. There are no best social media in general. But there is a social media that is the very best for a certain niche.

Facebook and google plus worked best for me. It actually depends on the type of audience you want to target. Go for 2-3 platforms and focus on promotion on these platforms, rather than trying your hands every where.
