Tips for news website

Everything I read online about strategies and tips on blogging is about copywriting and contents like those on buzzfeed.

But I believe that almost none of those tips and strategies are useful for news websites.

So, can anyone share tips for news websites on how to increase traffic and social media?

    Good specific key word rich titles.

    Being active posting on relevant forums, blogs, and other social media.

    Quality content.

    Sites like Perez Hilton - more of a gossip newsy site was posting about 20 times a day before he made it big.

    Well you have to socialize in social media Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter. Start commenting on blogs and forums. You can start to build traffic that way.

    For online news sites, the key is to make your content as shareable as possible.

    Optimize each story for social media posts (image size, video). Create posting "headlines" that are optimized for each social media account (Facebook headlines can be longer as opposed to Twitter, statement vs question, etc).

    Also set your stories to automatically post on your writer's social media accounts as soon as they're published. That way you can also take advantage of their social network, not just your own.

    Last but not the least, don't forget to tag or link to people, groups, companies that are mentioned in the story. More often than not, they'll promote the story even further if they're mentioned in it.

    I suggest that you optimize each page in your site with quality content and also add relevant titles with a primary and secondary keyword, where the primary keyword corresponds to the H1 tag or title of the content. The images in the website should be well defined or optimized by adding dimensions and alt tags. You need to continually place links to your website on high ranking relevant forum and blog websites for earning backlinks which inturn brings you traffic. Also see that you create accounts with respect to your website on social media websites like pinterest, reddit, delicious, scoopit, stumbledupon, facebook, twitter, googleplus, linkedin and see that you continuously work on these accounts by promoting your products.

    Create a proffesional Fan Page on facebook. Add 2-3 post per day, post videos and images. start invite people to like your page. If you have special offers, post them on your page and promote it on facebook. Get into groups on FB and comment to people, just get socialized

    You must be consistent with your updating and posting. And you must also be sure that everything you are posting is of high quality. Imagine each article is a first impression, you have to give your best. As they say, content is king.

    Also, post videos and pictures. People are much more likely to engage and respond to pictures as opposed to just text so get creative and give some variety.

    You can run some Facebook ads to get eyeballs on your facebook or blog. Of course it costs you money but you are also sure to reach the kind of people who are actually interested in what you have to say. Paid traffic is the fastest way to grow.
