Is it better to retweet quotes?

Hi all,

As part of my social media campaign I want to collate around 300 quotes (I think I already have 150 stashed somewhere). I'll be tweeting them, making them into pictures for pinterest, etc. My question: I'm currently searching twitter for people who are tweeting or retweeting about keywords in my industry to follow them.

If they have a quote I like, am I better to retweet their tweet, or stash the quote to use in my own tweet later on? I'm thinking a mix is good?

Obviously these are other peoples quotes that they've found so I'll include the appropriate author to the tweet.

What are your thoughts?

You should save it and then tweet it later + add tons of retweets to it.

I am of the school that you should give credit where it is due. Just stashing them to use later, unless you have the credits with the quotes, is not fair to the author.

On the same note, please follow me on Twitter & I will do the same. @affiliateguru1

Retweeting serves a bigger purpose than simply tweeting in that you are reaching out to touch another Twitter community and hoping they respond back. Often, by commenting on or retweeting (with or without comment), you are catching the attention of the person's who's content you retweeted as well as their followers.

If the person who tweeted the quote also originated it, then you should definitely give credit to the person who said it first.

I think you can use a mix. If it is a particularly obscure quote from a mostly unknown person I would def retweet and thank the person who posted it. The ones that are more typical I would say it is ok to stash and post in your own way giving credit to the author.

If its an original quote and not one from a famous celebrity or historical figure you should give them credit one way or another. You can store it but @ them in the tweet once you eventually use it.
