6. Tell A Great Story

Even if you are selling something that is not that popular, you have probably heard the colloquialism that a person could sell ice cubes to an Eskimo. It depends upon the speaker, the way they tell the story in the video, which may mean the difference between a successful video, and one that people simply don't want to watch. The more engaging the speaker is, the more likely it is that people will stay to watch until the end even if you do not offer some type of reward or prize. It also adds authenticity to what you are presenting because of how professional and well done the presentation will be.

7. Eliminate Dead Spots

One very important aspect to making a video flow is eliminating any of the dead spots in the continuity of the person speaking. If they continually say "um" or "uh" a lot, this disrupts the flow, causing some people to become very frustrated, prompting them to leave. It may take several hours to edit everything out of an extremely long video, or 20 minutes to do this with a short video, but it's well worth it if you want the viewers to truly enjoy what is being presented by eliminating all of this annoying useless talk.

Finally, the way that you talk to your audience should not seem as if you are a politician that is practicing a very polished speech. You should talk to people as if you are simply talking to a friend, and this will make your video more real than anything else. If they feel that you are trying to sell them, they will definitely not finish watching, but if you are conversational in your tone and presentation, it really doesn't matter. Whether you're new to the whole YouTube thing, or you've gotten a few videos posted, there's one basic idea that will always be true. YouTube videos are only successful if you can get people to watch them. It doesn't matter how great of a video you've put together, if you can't get the views then it doesn't matter.

Unfortunately, trying to get more views on YouTube can occasionally seem like wizardry. You figure out the perfect title, you put together some great tags and keywords, you utilize social media in order to get noticed, and yet you can't seem to get the views your video deserves. Is there anything you're missing? There might be.

Try Posting Less Often

This seems counter intuitive, but if you post up a video daily, you may actually be hurting your overall views. This is due to the way YouTube figures out the suggestion list. If a person subscribes to your channel, but only watches a handful of your videos in comparison to how many you publish, YouTube will begin showing them fewer and fewer of your videos. This is due to how they rate viewership. The YouTube algorithm judges, based on how many of your videos they view, that they're not as interested in your videos. So they see fewer of them.

Little Known Tricks To Get More YouTube Views - Part 2

Keep Your Videos Short

One of the ways YouTube judges whether or not your video is worth suggesting is based on how long your videos are watched. That is to say, if you have five videos that are three minutes each, but someone watches all five of them, YouTube judges that they've watched 15 minutes worth of your videos.

However, if you have five videos that top out at ten minutes each, but a person only watches two minutes of each video, this is judged as less desirable. Thus, it's always better to have your viewers watch more minutes worth of your videos. The best way to accomplish this is to keep your videos short. That way, viewers won't feel the need to wander off and do something else part way through your video, and they'll be more likely to watch the entire thing.

Target Your Promotion

Using social media and web forums to promote your videos is a good idea, but it may not be as useful as you want it to be. Just tossing a link out on Twitter and trying to get shares doesn't work nearly as well as many people wish it would. You may get a lot of people seeing the link, but that doesn't mean they're actually interested in watching what you're selling.

Instead, try targeting your promotion. Instead of putting your video link on Twitter and trying to get it out to as many people as possible, find a smaller forum that specializes in the subject of your video. You may get fewer people overall seeing the link, but you'll have more people who actually watch it. This is because these people are more interested in the subject of your video specifically. It's tempting to think gross numbers mean more views, but that's just not necessarily the case.

Ultimately, getting more views on your YouTube videos is a matter of marketing. The old marketing adage holds true, if you want to sell something, you have to convince people they have a need, and then fill that need. This is true of YouTube videos, as well.
