Hey there

is it a good or bad idea to have on the same page, site, English and Portuguese copy?

Does that confuse Google?

I need to get indexed all over the world and would like to do it right.

You probably wouldn't want to have both languages on the same page per-say.

If you're using a CMS like WordPress, it might be better to have something like a main language established for your site, and either a plugin or something like a sub-domain for your other language.

Use a Google tool to translate or have http://yoursite.com and then duplicate everything and place it at http://yoursite.com/pr then translate yourself. You will do a better job if you are a native speaker of a language than a translation program will.
Google will see this as 1 site and will NOT view it as duplicate content
Make sure to place a link at the top of each page to click to the other language site

I do have right my WP setup in English at escortsrio.com and then I did setup a different WP theme, a directory, at escortsrio.com/acompanhantes-rj/ which is in Portuguese.

But as mentioned, a different theme.

So should I still reproduce a copy of the English index file on another page at .com/pr ?

You did not mention wordpress... Wordpress has many great multi language plug ins, look over a few and even test.

If you're willing to pay a premium, a good developer would be able to configure your wordpress so that you can enter your content in multiple languages in your admin area, and it will auto generate sites for each language.
