For design, ThemeForest has over 17,000 unique Wordpress themes for around $3 each, and as for website creation, you can get this done through the freelance sites everyone uses today. Besides a freelancer I don't think there's any online entities dedicated to the mass production of Wordpress sites..

In a nutshell, WordPress is WordPress. The theme is the skin. The chances of finding a theme that's totally for you without any custom changes would be next to impossible.
Unless you're developing the site yourself, I would look for a good WP designer.

The answers seem to be split down the middle between a professional theme and hiring a designer/developer on Elance or oDesk.

Having gone down both routes my suggestion will be to go with a professional theme/template such as from themeforest (we use them all the time). You can really get burned hiring people off online job forums such as oDesk. Unless you get really lucky you're going to get burned a few times until you start to learn how to find and hire good workers on those types of sites. Essentially what you'll end up with is subpar work that cost you money.

On the other had with a professional template you know exactly what you're getting and at a much better price. Themeforest has high quality coding standards and you will get a theme that was developed by professionals and you know it will work and be bug free (for the most part). You'll never get the same quality template for the same price from a site like oDesk.

Hard to answer that questions as we don't know if you know how to tweak themes, or if you want some one else to do everything.

Plenty of themes you could change so they don't look like every one else's.
