Switching domains

I'm wondering how big of a task is it to transfer a site to a new domain.

I want to hire someone to help with some details of my site, but I don't want them to see what the site actually is, as it is my secret.

So I have thought about setting up a different domain name where the developer can upload his work, and then I'll transfer it to the real domain after the work is complete.

From what I understand, I'll have to manually change all the links within the code.
And I'll keep the same file structure on both sites, so all I have to do is change the domain address for all the lines of code that have it?

    Why so secret? Anyone with access to move your domain/files can pretty much figure out what it is.

    Anyways, I've performed a lot of website migrations from host to host so if you need help/advice, just ping me.

      There are many videos about this on youtube, not a big deal at all. I have done this often and never had to change a link, not in WP nor in HTML pages. depending on you hosting company maybe they can also do it for you.
