New site but need feedback

Hello,
I have created a new site which is a destination site for a particular city.

My strategy is to focus on the following:

1. Events - Create content that focuses on specifics events for the city. This may include articles and videos.

2 Specific location interview - My plan is that people visiting the city want to know about specific places they can visit. This could include videos of specific plans and articles.


3. Articles of the city - This may include "how to" "top 10 " " Best of " etc.


How I plan to monetize the site if through affiliates such as booking airfares and hotels, Direct ads from local business. Coupons / discounts for a discount pages.

Traffic:
Guest blogging on Blog sites in the Denver, Arizona, Monterrey Mx, Atlanta, Dallas, Austin, and Houston.

Negotiate with local hotels (not major chains) to use my site as the default page when logging in.

Guerrilla marketing at the airport


Please provide feedback on insight on what has worked well if you have created a destination site.

    I think you should focus on recent updates of the city. Anything happening new in the city, you should update it on your site. People get all the important news about that city on your website. Secondary the top 10 articles idea is also good. You should focus on this too.

    Are you working on this alone?
    Even to maintain just one category that you're targeting could probably be a full time job.
    Plus, depending on how big/popular the city that you're talking about is, you might find it very difficult to rank high as there would probably be separate websites out there already doing the same thing.
    On top of all of that, you'll have to reach out to businesses directly to monetize the site.
    How you though this through well enough?

      You are right. I am solo at the moment.
      There are others in the space but I am taking a different angle.

      It is a passion project because I live in the visit of San Antonio.

      The strategy is to get others to contribute.
