Hi, i have just open an a/cs with hostgator, but realised that i cannot install wordpress directly into my server a/cs. Is anyone know how to install wordpress into my server?

Note:
I tried unzip the wordpress files into my server root before, but seems like i need to do some configuration before i can use my server a/cs to run wordpress.

Thanks!

Yeah, you need to assign each WP installation a database.

Go into the Fantastico icon, which will be at the bottom of your cPanel interface.

When you click on that you should be able to install wordpress in a few minutes.

I'm sure that if you Google "wordpress cpanel tutorial video" or something, there'll be someone doing a screen-cap version for you via cPanel.

It's not the most secure way, but it'll get you started. I would recommend doing a couple of test installations in sub-directories (your-site.com/subdirectory1/ ; yoursite.com/subdirectory2 ; etc.)

Make a note of everything as you go because you'll need various passwords and email addresses and so on. Copy everything into a text file and save it as you go.

Once you've done a few of these test installations like this via the cPanel, you should be familiar enough to be able to follow the instructions on the Wordpress.org site for a manual installation.

    Best of luck with it!

Fantstico is the way to go if you are new. Don't get intiidated. Thats the first key. Hostgator is a good host too.

I've heard a lot about HostGator lately. I'm with GoDaddy, and they also seem easy to me.

If you want to use WordPress MU on your site, but wanted to test it thoroughly before making it live on the server, the best way is to create a local server and test the installation in your computer
first. In this tutorial, you will learn how to create local sever on Windows (using Xampp) and install WordPress MU.
