I am considering switching my current website over to WordPress to help increase my organic rankings for some specific keywords. Planning on using seo plugin by yoast to help as well. Any advise on if this a good idea or better solutions would be appreciated. Website is www.usaati.com

Well, Wordpress wouldn't hurt your SEO. Most themes on Wordpress have clean coding as well and has many SEO friendly plugins, so it's generally a good choice for websites.

  • WordPress for the most part is well designed for you to optimize SEO. I emphasize YOU optimize. WordPress won't do it for you. Some theme developers don't code well though and have HTML5 and heading tags all screwed up. I would run any demo theme you plan to buy through WC3 validator before buying.

    Hi,

I would have to agree that WordPress does offer many options for a site to get better Search Engine Rankings. It is a fantastic platform, and it makes your site easily crawlable by search engines, solves some 80-90% of mechanics of SEO. One of the quickest and easiest way to optimize your page ranking is to download and install an SEO plugin.

@Bandyman85 , we can't blindly say that WordPress is best for SEO , because you can see there are lot more sites that are top in SEO , but none are built in WordPress.
But definitely WordPress helps you or has in-built options to make your site SEO friendly , at the end it is you who has to take efforts to propagate the site & market well.
Yoast is what I have been using for all of my WordPress websites including my clients.
Besides WordPress has a huge community to support you with any issues , so better rely on WP :-)

    All the best !!

Yes and no. Depends how skilled you are in web developing and seo. Wordpress gives you pretty much out of the box and plugins can help you much without learning much. You can build a site and implement its seo in no time using wordpress

But wordpress and also other cmss have drawbacks if you want full customization.

Duh, Wordpress is HTML + PHP.

The live webpage is all Google is looking at, the back end isn't ranking anything in the SERPs.

So true, but doesn't Google love WordPress sites? I've heard that mentioned more than once coming from some SEO professionals. This, ease of use and expandability may be just a few reasons that WP is so popular.

I remember a presenter from Google said exactly this at a Wordpress Word Camp Conference. Google likes crawling wordpress sites because it knows the page structures and formats really well.

As per my opinion, WordPress is amazing web CMS. Millions of people publish their blogs by WordPress. Because it's easy to find professional help. Every post on your new WordPress site can contain a unique title, meta description, excerpt, a category or a tag, as well as a clean, search optimized URL string. WordPress provides you all SEO plugins.

I think wordpress is easier to maintain. ..

but I'f you have a html website and update it regularly you can rank on it as well. .just recently i saw a guy in my current niche "creating blog" ...killing it with a html website. ..

but he had heaps of good content and structure. . So he was ranking. . All others ranking were on wordpress. .

    So there you go. .

Yoast plugin is good but to f at and can slow your wp website down

    Just my 2 cents

    Technically there are few factors:

    1. Site speed is a ranking factor, and Wordpress is fast enough engine (otherwise it would not be so popular).
    2. You can easily make impossible for google to determine which CMS you are using, trust me. Remove all "Powered by Wordpress" and other Wordpress-related entrances on your pages, remove version information and that's all - nobody know which CMS you are using.

As you can see Wordpress is good enough engine for SEO.

  • SEO is in the hands of the owner. WordPress on its own does nothing for SEO other than creating a h1 title tag for your post and page titles. It is up to the owner to add meta descriptions, write authoritative articles, submitting sitemaps to Google and things of that nature. Getting Yoast SEO plugin is a good start.

WordPress is one of the best, if not the best content management systems when it comes to SEO. That being said, spending time on your WordPress SEO might seem like a waste of time, it most definitely is not. Optimizing your site to the best practices outlined in this article will help you improve your rankings, gain more subscribers and have a better website in general.

WordPress is one the best CMS, the on page SEO for WordPress is very simple you can install read made plugins such as Yost all in one SEO plugin which you can easily get on the internet. Once you get the plugin installed on your website. You just need to make some changes to your title and meta descriptions and many more other thing which is very easy to make even that is suggested by the Yost plugin itself. And once you have done with the on-site changes move on to the off-page optimization.
