Hiya, I am just in the middle of building my affiliate marketing website. Madforitcyclist.co.uk.

I was speaking to an expert and we was talking about improving my site, wanted to charge 500 pounds to build a site map, seo and other things. Then an ongoing pay mount 200 per month.

My question is in order to be successfully in affiliate marketing would you recommend paying an expert to build a professional site? Any advice on improving my website? I know it's very basic

I would never pay 500 pounds ,what i would do is learn the stuff my self and build a team of 2 to 3 people who can write quality content for me ,or outsource the content part internationally .......

    hope this helps

    chyan007 is spot-on.
The only thing I would like to add is that you should consider engaging a mentor who will tell you what to do, and show you how to do it. There are mentors in all niches, and I don't know of anyone who charges anything like $200 a month. I think you'll easily find someone you can afford to work with, if you browse through The Warrior Forum, and be sure to have a look through the WSOs. Keep smiling!

500 pounds may seem like a lot if money but you have to ask yourself how much it's going to cost you to learn it yourself.

Do you intend on becoming an SEO expert or do you want to run a cycling products supply business?

I had a look at your site on a mobile. Blank canvas that it is it currently looks like an ecommerce site. Is it going to have a blog or forum?

I don't know how big shopping portals get traffic but I'd imagine a lot of advertising before any kind of word of mouth gets going and before Google actually considers them authorities and sends traffic.

I don't think you need an SEO makeover in the beginning. Learn the basics for sure but build your site how you want it to be first.

Then build a fan page and join cycling groups. Take nice cycling pics and put them on Instagram. Make some cycling videos etc.

The trouble with paying for SEO at such an early stage is it's impossible to know the ROI.

You can learn this on your own. I suggest you Lynda online courses. You can find a lot of information regarding sitemap/SEO etc. and it will take you no more than 5-6 hours to learn the basics from where you could start move forward.

However, quality SEO consultation worth 500 pounds, but it depends on the expiernce of this consultant. I know people who chrage x10 more for SEO analysis and for fixing mistakes, but as other member said here you could find who could fix (partly) your SEO for 50$ I believe

    Good Luck

Iam a tech challenged human being. If I can use WP and build a half decent site then anyone can.

Just takes a little time but once you do it, you will not be sorry

Well, you have to spend money to earn money.

If a dollar invested gets you $1.01 back, then it is a good investment.

Now it depends on "what the other things" are. Right now it is like asking "Someone wants me to sell me a car. Should I buy it?". It depends on what car it is, what you're doing with this car and so on.

If in the grand scheme of things this will bring you a good ROI, then yes, invest. If not, do not invest. The only question that you need to ask yourself is if it you can make a profit or not. It doesn't matter if you can learn it yourself. The purpose of a business is to earn a profit.

    Here's a short story.

A few years ago, I needed to design something for myself. Since I'm a geek, I tried to do it myself. I've found the right tools and I started learning. Five days later, I had invested at least 20 hours and I still sucked at it. So I just paid 20 bucks for someone to do it. He did it. I moved to the next thing. Do your best and outsource the rest.

Did this expert have references you can call and verify that those people are now getting their ROI just from the work the expert has done for them?

If you can confirm that the work this person does will more than pay for what it is costing you to have the work done and you want to be more hands off then go for it.

Here's a couple of things - I'm barely scraping the surface:

I can tell you off the bat - positioning of the subscribe button is not is the best area.

You are missing some basic TOS, privacy pages.

Landing image for the home page is not all that - if you're going to use something that big you should consider a video background.

Get rid of the outlook address and use a person@yourdomain address for the contact.

Blog is way to isolated and doesn't seem to tie back into your store anywhere (ie no side widgets).

Looks like you have a connection with "mensbeardcare" Connections like these need to be covered up.

You're going to need way more content going in.

There is quite a bit that needs to be done.

I don't know that you should kick over to wordpress - I know that I would personally but that's what I'm familiar with.

As others have stated, it's a matter of how involved you want to be in actually building up the site.

Thank you for all the feedback, I will be writing a list and doing some work. Have you got a link for the course that helps with seo. I was thinking of changing my Shopify theme? What shall I consider when changing?

Has anyone got any reccommendations for a mentor? What do you do just pay them a small monthly fee?
