Hey All,

I am doing some research about oniine security and I wanted to see if Wordpress site owners on the forum consider the security of their site a priority in their business? Site/ Blogs etc are obviously a big asset.

From the research I've been doing already it seems that a large proportion of the WP site are open to compromise. Is it just considered that the existing security from Wordpress updates is enough or is it people in the know take the precautions to protect their sites and the rest are unaware?

Who would you say is responsible for making a site secure? Webdesigner/ Site Owner/ Hosting Company?

Would really appreciate any thoughts or comments on this topic...Thanks O.

Each stakeholder is (or should be) responsible for securing their end of services and assets (software / hardware).

Host providers can only offer as much protection as the present state of hardware and software / server-sides can offer.

Host provider security is easily thwarted if any user fails to secure their web assets once uploaded / created on the Host's asset. Each user must secure their own assets.

All web designers can do is reduce obvious vulnerabilities once they are discovered / known when these are a function of the theme or CMS.

I have found, however, that hacking behavior (process) follows similar actions which can be addressed by all parties. The weakest link though, will always be the user (webmaster / blog owner - admin), who foolishly believes that they are "covered" by plugins or the host - they are doomed to a crude awakening one morning.
