Recommendations for cheap hosting using WordPress?

I'm using Templatetoaster to build a WordPress site. Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap hosting options. Cheap is probably the most important part. Obviously, I need it to be reliable. But the site isn't that robust and won't be getting that many visitors.

I've never done this before, and I've already made some rookie mistakes. I'm trying to avoid making any more. Any advice be greatly appreciated.

For me getting cheap hosting increases the risk as well. Like not being reliable, based on some experiences that I only read. Paying extra but not that much is worth it (for me). I don't want to experience those kind of situation so I go for extra charges than to suffer and feel sorry about it later.

  • I use HostGator and have never had any issues with them at all. I've heard great things about Blue Host too

I came up with a short list of shared hosting providers that seem reasonable and don't get many bad reviews:
      Glowhost
      Arvixe
      Frog Host - Web Hosting
      Site5 Web Hosting
      Siteground
      PacificHost
      Hostgator
      Signature

      Robin

...Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just set there.

Thank you to everybody for the advice. I looked at host gator. Only briefly though. I suppose Go Daddy is not the one most people use? That's what I was thinking about using.

GoDaddy and Hostgator are popular but in my opinion a little slow.
With GoDaddy I also realized that they are very cheap to start with but when it's time to renew they tend to boost up their prices.

If it's just a simple website your building you can start with either and then as your traffic increases and website gets bigger you can move host if you are unhappy with them.

I would recommend asphostportal, hostforlife.eu and WPEngine for wordpress hosting.

A lot of the above suggestions include EIG web hosts.
EIG are notoriously bad, common issues include slow servers, clueless support staff, and waiting days for a simple ticket answer.

Ideally, avoid them at all costs. A list (while not complete) can be found here.

Cheap and reliable isn't hard to get. But if you pay $1 a month for web hosting - don't expect a stellar experience.

With hardware prices going down, overall hosting cost is now a lot cheaper. So, cheap doesn't always mean bad for hosting. Beware of the EIG hosts.

I used Hostgator for a couple of years, then noticed they had been creeping my pricing structure up. Then I started looking for other options. I went with Interserver (link below) and have not regretted it once.

They have replied to every chat request and open ticket immediately and take care of the problem, and took care of details when I migrated to them from HG. And when you sign up, the price you sign up for is the price you will always pay - they won't raise your pricing.

Check out services from iFastNet.com and QHoster.com, they are able to satisfy the needs of many webmasters who are interested in getting a quality Wordpress service.
And their prices are rock-bottom and support is helpful for 24 hours.

Just find it google and you can review the hosting provider one by one. WPEngine is good but they are costly. I have good experience with hostforlife.eu to host my blogging site. You can consider them

I used to use Hostgator but their customer service has turned to garbage since they were bought out. I use Site5 now and don't have any issues.

      Hi,
I am going to point you to a site that you probably never heard of. It offers a complete and comprehensive service; you name it , they supply it. Their support it just phenomenal and they are by a far stretch the number one hosting company in this country. And the cherry on the cake is the price...our exchange rate will favour the US$ because you get about 15 South African Rand for your $1.
I have now been with them for about 4 years and they've never disappointed me when I needed help.

Go to this site for more info: http://www.afrihost.com/

I honestly can recommend them for all your internet hosting , domain, cPanel... too many to mention here, that you need.services that you need

    Hi,
I too am in need of a good reliable wordpress host. My site is a video site and needs a good amount of horsepower to cover all the needs there in. However, my current host is not doing the job. I have had a number of times when it appeared to be down or the server was too busy.

Today, I made three or four attempts to get a weekly backup and that too failed.

I really need to get this site moved asap and get a more reliable host. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
