I also have exactly the same problem with xmarks btw.

When I download fb and click on install, I get the message to 'restart now' to complete the installation. I do that and fb just does not show up. Click on tools>add ons> extensions and it is not listed. The little firebug that is normally at the bottom right of the status bar also does not show up. I have downloaded fb and xmarks and gone through this a few times, same result.

I also uninstalled ad reinstalled FF and then tried both again, same result.

(And I get days when it seems like my whole life is like that.)

Had just a quick look through the ff forums but didn't see anyone else with the same problem.

Anyone here happen to have a suggestion?

Gee, that's not very technical. Hadn't thought of that and obviously a good idea so did that and running 3.5.2 now. Same problem. (sob) Just kidding around about sobbing but this has got me feeling a bit expressive.

Also since my first post I did the most complete uninstall possible (I think). First uninstalled from the control panel and in the process chose to save nothing like passwords etc. Then went into program files and found a mozilla folder lurking there, slammed that one in the can, then went into the registry and scrubbed out 3 Mozilla entries there. (Puter still works.)

I'm beginning to think it might be a Vista problem because I am having a really similar issue with Sony Soundforge. It developed a problem and each time I uninstall and reinstall it, it comes back with the same problem. Vista has always seemed like a big step up from xp to me and up till now I actually liked it. Not sure it actually is at fault, thought I'd slam it just in case.

So thanks for the suggestion Harrier, that was definitely worth a try.

Edit: Does anyone know any other places where files might possibly be found? Has Vista come up with something else?

Double edit: Didn't want to bump the thread up with not much new info. It turned out it was a Vista problem. I reinstalled it and now everything seems to be working right. Do have FB running on FF now.
