What is the Best Comment Plugin to Use on Wordpress?

I've used disqus and facebook, but I think the safest is to go to default comment system on wordpress. Your users won't have to create facebook or disqus accounts.

With disqus, I had a big problem, they started to show links inside my content. Not sure if it was a "feature", but I was unable to find where to disable it and moved away.

Facebook will track your visitors anywhere.

I am using Jetpack which is the default comment plugin by wordpess. It is safest and allows users to leave a comment in muliple ways. Disqus also allows users to comment by multiple accounts with Disqus, Facebook, google plus or twitter. A user can also add image to comments, have feature to edit/moderate each individual comments and many more. While with the Facebook comment plugin the person must have a Facebook account and they must feel comfortable to use their login in order to comment on your site.

I personally use Disquis (i'm in the proceses of uninstalling disquis and going back to the wordpress comment) I would recommend using the actually wordpress comments

When it comes to commenting Disqus and default comment system on wordpress is the best in the game. I have been using it for 3 years now and I am very satisfied with both.

In my honest opinion, to know what comments plugin is the best of all, you have to make clear what is your main purpose. For example, if you just want to allow users to leave their thoughts on your website, with the native comments functionality that comes packed with Wordpress (Jetpack plugin) would be enough to accomplish this.

Now, if you want to give your users other capabilities, like getting a notification to their personal Facebook Account, with the Facebook Comments Plugin you would be ok.

Remember, it all depends on what is your objective -> what you want to achieve.

According to me Disquis is the best one and i have used for most of the my clients sites, its very easy to customize too so you can customize it as per your need

I use Disqus myself and really like it. Before I used default wordpress comments and no matter what comment spam plug-in I used, spam still got through. Since I've used Disqus, there has been no spam. Plus you can set it to moderate, whitelist, ect.

And as mentioned Disqus has several login options, so it's not like many people will have to create accounts.

On a side note, I actually see traffic from Disqus. It has some what a community, followers.

Personally I prefer the default comment system.

I do not recommend plugins like Disqus that require commenters to join before being able to leave a comment. This is because it could be costing you a lot of comments. You're limiting yourself to Disqus members.

I now skim to the end of a post just to make sure I don't have to jump through hoops to leave a comment. If it's using a system where I have to log in I don't even bother reading the post.

I've done several posts on the subject on WassupBlog but I won't bother linking to them here as they are several years old. I can say though that they received heaps of comments from people who are like minded.

If you want to instal a plugin that inspires comments the I recommend the pro version of Andy Baily's Commentluv. Even the free version is good but I like the extra features on the paid version.

My spam with Disqus is ZERO.

Hey to each their own. I was just saying there are more ways to login in than just with a Disqus account. You said only Disqus account holders.

And frankly this goes back to getting quality comments. When people log into an account they are much more likely to be legit comments. Sure it might be less comments, but they tend to be better quality and that is what counts. Too many blogs with junk/spammy comments out there.
