Im looking to add a forum to my wordpress site but I cant think of any complete wordpress forums.

The only few requirements.
- Good seo.
- easy to use
- full feature forum or as close as wordpress can get.
- look good
- Needs to be free

I have thought of a few but im not sure

1. phpbb.
I was thinking of bridging phpbb but it could have some compatibility issues and it could be a bit to advance to start with.

2. wpforo
I dont know much about it, s it really a full featured forum that works with WP and is free.

3. AnsPress

4. bbpress
too many plugins and tweaks are required to complete it.

does anyone have any other ideas ?

Another option would be using forum software like phpBB and build it under subdomain like forum.yourdomain.com

Im wanting members to be able to use the same login details as the main site (people are lazy).

WPForo looks good. I do not suggesting bridging between any free forum platform with Wordpress as most such plugins aren't much effective. There are good bridging solutions available for paid forum scripts such as Xenforo.

WPForo is a wordpress plugin. bbpress is another good plugin and officially supported but as you said you'll need to tweak it a lot. There is a lot can be achieved with bbpress if you get your hands dirty by editing the hooks, etc.

This looks the easiest of out all. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpforo/

Although, I have no experience of using it. So, suggest you to give it a trial run.

    Hello,

I'm not sure if there is a Free Version or not but I use https://www.websitetoolbox.com/#169548

I pay a monthly Fee but I don't have to worry about Wordpress updates etc. because it's not Wordpress.

I think you can Embed it into your website if you want.

There are a lot of backend tools also. It collects the emails so you can send out marketing emails and one of my favorite things is it sends out periodically a email to all the users...(I think like once a month that shows what's going on at the forum.

My only complaint is I wish they put a whole page that is dedicated to selling products to the members of the forum.

They do have sections where you can put Banner ads etc.

Shows like 5 different Threads and links to go to them. hHelps get more traffic. It's worth a look.

The website I use on it is called www.RoofersClub.com It's a Roofing Forum.

  • I used simplepress for years at; http://xcannabis.com
But the site got slow and people lost interest. At one time we had 1400 active members though.
Simplepress is very flexible and scalable with some great addons
