How to know how a website was built?

I cant tell what the site above was built on... the view source page doesnt say much.

    Hi Gangsterpart,

    If you use google chrome, you can install Wappalyzer. It is Google Chrome add-on.. From it you can know what a site built on.

  • Its simple:

    Just go https://chrome.google.com/webstore/c...sions?hl=en-US this link and search Wappalyzer extensions. Install Wappalyzer on your browser. After installing it then restart your browser. Then open your chrome browser again and browser your website link. Top Right site of browser you will see.

    Yes as Michael mentioned wappalyzer is the best option. else you have to read the source code and analyze the structure and code syntax, if you are well aware of the same.

    For example if I analyze https://www.searchgrowth.com.au using wappalyzer I see lot of thing coming up, since that site is using many plugins and frame work which also includes wordpress cms

    All you had to do was view source, that should be the first step!

    Squarespace makes really nice looking sites, definitely competes with wordpress.

      But how do professionals do it ? by reading the code, but what to look for. If it says wp-admin, obviously, its wp but what about others?
