Cheap hosting for mini-blogs

Hi,

I need advice regading a cheap hosting service (possibly WordPress-based, but not necessarily) for my domains.

I have a domaining business and I need to set up a mini-blog for each of the domains. Basically, each website should only be a 'website stub', not a full-fledged blog. The content will be little (mostly, only the homepage will be used), and I do not need either high performance or all the bells and whistles provided most blogging platforms. In short, each website will be just a little more than a landing page, but with the potential of expanding in case it's needed.

I am not going with free hosting because I want to have all the freedom of what I put into my website (e.g. Google Adsense).

One thing that I do need is support for unlimited domains within one hosting account.

Can you suggest a cheap solution for my needs?

Thanks

Herbie

Don't know what you consider 'cheap' - I'd go with a reseller plan for about $25 a month such as smaller Hostgator reseller plan.

Host 25 domains (each with own c-panel) on that one acct and you are paying $1 a month for hosting and for very small blogs you might have space for 50 or more 'mini' blogs.

That "reseller" acct allows you to allocate space/blog as needed and access all sites from one management page. On HG, there are full instructions and videos so setting up is a breeze.

$25 monthly is way too much, for me. I was looking forward to some solution costing less than 10 dollars monthly.
Considering that for each website there will be only the homepage, and very little traffic, I am not willing to pay much.

LunarPages was good for me for many years. It cost about $7 per month, paid up front. That's how you get the best deals, all paid at once.

You can always change it as your business grows.

    Hi Herb,

I'm using the Shared Hosting from Bluehost. Since you have very small websites without much of data this should work. They allow Unlimited Subdomains. So you will have to pay for Domain Charges every time you create a Domain. But hosting will be covered in $5.95 per month when you pay for few years in advance. If you want to only pay per month then it will cost upwards of $10.95.

I am currently hosting 6 different domains of my own and 3 of another friends. We don't have much data either.

We have simple websites with few pages for branding purpose and to support our offline businesses.

    Hope this helps.

    Herbie,

For my money, I would find a cheap VPS hosting package. This will allow you to expand as necessary. When I used shared hosting a few years back, I found that as soon as I hit a certain number of websites/size of websites/traffic, it was basically garbage hosting.

I switched to a VPS and have had zero issues. I know it's not quite as cheap, but VPS is far superior and will give you exactly what you need.

Which VPS host did you prefer? I used GoDaddy and was mildly pleased, I suppose. They didn't seem very cheap either.

So you'll need a CHEAP web hosting that is reliable and fast. I always suggest you to but your hosting from HostGator because it is the number one hosting provider company, user friendlydashboard and A class service. Its price also low HostGator Cloud ($2.99/mo)

    Thanks for all the advice.
I settled for what I believe to be a good solution: $35 per year, with unlimited domains. It was a promotion, for the first year only, but for the time being it's really good.
