Wordpress vs Wordpress mu

I currently have a web setup that allows me to host multiple domains. I am not too familiar with Wordpress, but from what I can tell I have to upload a separate complete installation or Wordpress for each domain. Is that correct.

I also noticed that there is Wordpress mu, which allows for multiple web sites under one copy of Wordpress. Tried getting this working without success.

Anyone have some easy to understand advice/help on how to get my multiple domains set up to use Wordpress? I am not totally convinced about the "greatness" of Wordpress yet, for the amount of time I have spent trying to get it working, I could have (and already have) manually uploaded all my articles and hand written the whole thing.

Thanks for any help
Dean

I'm changing servers right now so I can't show you any samples, but actually you can put up as many wordpress installation in as many folders as you want to make.
    talewins.com/bulletin
    talewins.com/tiednots
    talewins.com/travelshop
    etc..

If your server offers "fantastico" then setting up wordpress is very easy.. Just give it a name, give it a folder -- unless your whole domain will be a single wordpress install, in which case you will install it on your home level.

With multiple domains on the same server pack, Fantastico will ask which domain you want this particular install to be put in. No problem.

Ask support for help if you get stuck.

After wordpress is up THEN you go in and change styles and pictures, set up your setup, etc..

I'm not sure if Wordpress MU can be used for multiple domains, I have only used it only for subdomain and directory based blogs:

    blog.example.com and example.com/blog

There is a plug in available that gives you the option with Wordpress mu to create multiple sites. The big problem is that there is little to no documentation or help in using it. Here's what I found:

WPMU DEV - WordPress MU plugins and themes
      Signature
MyLast5Dollars.Com - Internet Marketing For The Rest Of Us

There's also a way to install multiple WordPress blogs using only one shared database, but I haven't personally tried it. You can read about at the WordPress Codex.
