where to place my css sprites

hey guys , i'm using joomla 3 and bt_travel template , i want to make css sprite from my combined images , i have combined the image and i have the codes too , i just don't know where should i put the code and combined image , i'm wondering if u can help me and to find where to place my css codes and combined image.

    Sprites are two-dimensional images which are made up of combining small images into one larger image at defined X and Y coordinates. To display a single image from the combined image, you could use the CSS background-position property, defining the exact position of the image to be displayed.
