New to Wordpress

Hello everyone,
I'm new to all this website designing and have started (or at least trying to) start playing a bit with Wordpress starting first with the installation of it to a domain I have. My hosting company is with Hostgator and when I try to install WP on the domain of my choice, I get the following message:

Install WordPress (2/3)

The installation can not be completed:
- You chose to install in the main directory of the domain ********.com, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. Following filenames already exist in the main directory of the domain *******.com (path="/home/*****/public_html/").You must manually remove these files before proceeding with auto-installation:

Now, I got some help from a fellow warrior as to the easiest way to get rid of these files is to go via the File Manager in cPanel where I'll find it under the "Files" section, then I would just open it up, navigate to the correct location, check all the files I want to get rid of, and delete them.

Now, I am trying doing this and that's where I would really appreciate some guidance from the WP pros in here. On my hostgator account, I click on the File Manager and I have the following options listed, please tell me if I'm doing the correct thing:

I open the Directory root for the selected domain, then once cpanel File Manager opens and the files have been loaded, I just click on each of the files mentioned above that need to be removed/deleted, I delete them each individually. Am I on the right track? Before I proceed and erase any file by mistake, I'd wait to get some help and guidance from experienced and expert WP users.
