Wordpress or CMS - help me decide

I'm going to develop a site that rates products, websites and other stuff and gives reviews and promotes.
I was ready to proceed with Wordpress but I was wondering if a cms would be better. This is more of a blog but it will have section on different things and even sell stuff. So, I'll see what yall think. I have been out of the loop for a while and things have changed.

    WordPress is good enough, because it already has so many plugins. If you build own cms, you have to work more on security.

    Well, WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS) and is the most popular CMS for good reasons. You can google "what is the most popular cms" and compare it to other CMSs. A popular WP plug-in "Store" is WooCommerce that a lot of people use. BTW, you can also do a second WP install and use a WP/WooCommerce theme.

    Thanks Jeff. I was thinking about it and I have been using Wordpress to build my own sites and others for a long time. It can do all of what I need, is SEO friendly and looks good on a smart phone not saying the other CMS's don't but why try to learn something else when I know what works.

    going with custom cms or site will cost you very much and if you're not a technical person it will be very difficult for you to handle the site whereas WP is easy to use and you can use plugins to set up the site. and you can use WooCommerce.

    These days shopify is popular for eCommerce sites. you can set up the whole site in less than 10 minutes and you can easily integrate the payment methods like PayPal, CC, MasterCard.

    You can always stick on Wordpress. It is the most simple CMS. It is diverse and easy to operate. Complex CMS like Magento or framework like Bootstrap are fancy but those are hard to operate and maintain. And on the standpoint of a newbie Wordpress is the best choice.

    Yes I would recommend WordPress as it is the easiest to work with if you have been out of things for a while....


    Very easy to work with, and there are lots of great premium themes available at a reasonable price from places like Themeforest if you are not comfortable adjusting some of the free themes.
