Hi,

I have a quick question, a client of mine gave me his Envato(Themeforest) credentials and asked me to update his Wordpress theme. However, i noticed in his accounts many plugins and themes that i found quite useful.

So as you probably guessed, i entend to download them and use them someday for my own purpose. That been said, if i download all the items he bought, is there a way for him to know, to be notified?

I want to be sure if start downloading that he won't receive any mails or suspect anything!!

If anyone is sure about this, please let me know !

Thank you

Many purchased plugins require an activation key so you wouldn't be able to use them anyway.

I don't intend to use his license, i don't want to harm the client whatsoever. But i know that most plugins and themes will work without activating them with the purchase code which will prevent any future updates which i'm totaly fine with.

I just saw it as a good opportunity to benefit from it aswell without doing any damage to the other party !

It takes advantage of your client - takes his property for your use without his knowledge or consent - steals from the seller's site as you aren't paying for what you are taking.

You know it's wrong - your concern is whether you will be caught. Not a good path to take as if the client learns about it - you could lose a reputation and a client.

I've decided finally not to do it and never think about it ever again, as it can compromises with my client's online installed items, and from the ethical aspect i should not even think about it. The client trusted me so i should be trustworthy !

Thank you all for helping me realize this !

Wow, I asked the client's permission and he agreed, he was kind with his response to my request. I'm amazed and ashamed at the same time that i even thought about such a thing !

I appreciate the valuable advices. Thank you guys !

Don't do it, It's unethical. You would be stealing from both your client and the developer that created them. You can search for the plugins yourself or ask your client were he got them so you can get them yourself.
