Just tried to access Plesk Sitebuilder in my Hostgator account, that used to be included for free, and now l get this crap...

It is either website builder or Weebly, that both charge an extra $10 bucks a month, (when converted to AU) well it is actually Weebly $15 a month and the other $10.

So if l want to access the 100 odd pages on some of my old sites, l am forced into one of these.

Which better be for all of my sites, or seriously p***d and broke will be the next step.

It seems that it is for all of my sites, but the basic free one, (sitebuilder) only covers 6 pages, so if l click on that, l guess that 94 pages on one of my sites will get deleted? Not something that l want to try.

Godaddy which is hosting the domain, isn't much better, so l am getting royally sc***ed, (nameservers are with Hostgator)

Anyone else had any recent experience with these scumbags, (hostgator) or tried to access one of their old sites with them recently?

Appreciate all feddback.

I have never used Plesk Sitebuilder so I may not be much help.

Were you building the pages in HTML or PHP?

Most site builders are just a tool for easily creating posts/pages with a WYSIWYG interface. Years ago I used some before I started using WordPress. You should be able to use another free site builder and then import the data to your page. Just stopping the use of a site builder because it became a paid tool should not cause you to lose access to your older pages or cause them to be deleted.

I left HG years ago when they were taken over by EIG. I didn't switch because everyone said to - I switched because I had some repeated big issues that they were not resolving. I can't speak for how good they are now since I haven't been with them for years.

Somebody at HG should be able to direct you to a work around since this was apparently just sprung on you.

No, not PHP or HTML, just using their template, but the thing is is the number of pages they allow. I got one site with a limited number of pages, without checking so l could probably get away with the free 6 pg,s, but not the one with almost 10 sites, the majority of pages are buried and relate to funnels and such, so not something l want to bin, since they got greedier.

But l agree l will make a ticket and see what they say.

If you saw the post on the main forum on Friday and all the other threads about Hostgator. You will see they have went way downhill and most users have switch hosts.

If this thread becomes a bash Hostgator thread it will be closed too.

I have added a domain onto a site that is WP, and will probably bite the bullet but not after making sure or contacting them first.

Well contacting them through their online chat, (the email has been yanked).

Ok, had a chat, and apparently my sites are not window server dominant or whatever he called it. Which basically means l have to pay another $45 AU a month extra, on top of the $20 a month now!

I won't stake the obvious but yeah, a nice mess l have to figure out!

And their other sitebuilder is only for beginners or customization is pretty much out, well not without buying more software........

And if l used that $10 a month option, most of my pages would disappear, so not an option.

It looks like one of my accounts with a virus riddled Frank Kern software setup with the attached WP software account is gone, which is fine.

And the other one, probably delete some and leave the key ones and the new one, as l am not paying almost $50 a month extra!
