How It's Like To Be A Web Developer?

Hi there,

My name is Ajay I am a web developer so my question is
sorry for the silly question but it's a question that's been bothering me quite a lot lately...
I'm on my journey on becoming one (hopefully). There's still a long road ahead but I think I'm doing my best.
The point is, I'm kind of getting this idea that being a web dev you spend a lot of time alone in your dark room without talking to anybody for weeks, which I know it doesn't resemble the truth, but still, somehow this image is stuck in my head. I'm not a super duper "go out and party" guy, but neither a "hate everyone" one.
I love learning to code and to build my first little apps, but this idea of "loneliness" career, I feel is kind of pulling me back. I'd really need to hear what do you think about.

    I am usually alone when developing websites
    because it requires focus and concentration
    but I don't think you need to spend weeks on
    end in a dark room.

    Are you feeling isolated because of the
    pandemic?

    I think there's a lot of that going around.

    If you work online - unless you participate in constant ZOOM calls...you will be working alone much of the time. There are many offline jobs that are the same - requiring attention and focus rather than interaction with other people.

    Solution is simple - set your own work hours - set a work day from ???AM to ???PM that allows time to get the work done - and then plan social activities for the times AFTER work. That is basic time management.


    The beauty of working online is the flexibility - if you want, you can schedule yourself a 2 hr lunch a couple times a week and meet friends for lunch and conversation.

    That is just a popular stereotype about all the programmers which can be true but nowaday the vast majority of programmers try to avoid this kind of life and it can be easily achieved. So, it is up to you to build your lifestyle according to the deadlines that you have.
