Hi, I created a website (2 months old) with the POFO WordPress template (paid). I have tried to use minimum design and the maximum of text but encountered 2 major problems:

1- The website at speed insight is very slow and indicator is 17 for mobile (Desktop is about 65).
2- In many website checkers I usually get a very low to text to HTML ratio

What I have tried:

1- I tried many plugins to minify CSS and JS... but usually website very slow to load and the best of them gives me 21 score at search console. Is it theme problem or other?
2- I have deleted many buttons and designs and inserted the maximum of text but usually text to html ratio is very very low may be its problem of theme.

Can I you please help me with some suggestions or solution for my 2 problems.
Thanks for everyone

    Hi atefbouss,

    Thank you for your inquiry.

First, since you have a paid theme (POFO), I would contact support to see if they can help you diagnose the issue.

Second, check to see if you have a slow DNS. This can affect the TTFB significantly.

Third, check your hosting provider. If you are using a "standard" basic hosting or anything owned by EIG (Bluehost, Hostgator, etc.), you will have issues with load time.

Last, other things you can check that could have an impact on your site's load time are:

    - If you are not using a CDN
    - If you are using a bulky editor
    - Images are too large

    etc.

Hope this helps you get your site loading faster.

Thank you very much for your reply

1- I am using Hostinger Hosting with business web hosting plan
2- My DNS are those for hostinger: ns1.dns-parking.com / ns2.dns-parking.com
3- I am not using CDN
4- For the builder its related to the theme and its WPbackery builder
5- I am using and image compress plugin and my images are not very large.

May be its problem of theme because Pofo is using too much code I think.
At speed insight for mobile I have those results:

      First Contentful Paint
      3.3 s
      Largest Contentful Paint
      14.9 s
      Total Blocking Time
      1,380 ms
      Cumulative Layout Shift
      0.001
      Speed Index
      10.2 s

Genral score is: 35 mobile and 74 for desktop
      Thanks for your help

        Hi atefbouss,

You may still want to look at moving to a different host. If so, look at Namehero.com (Plus or Turbo Plan), Cloudways.com, VeeroTech.com or Rocket.net (more expensive).

If not, and you are locked into what you have, then I suggest the following:

        - Sign up for Cloudflare and move your DNS to them (much faster than any out there). Be sure to set your A Record with your spelled out domain name to proxied to use CF's CDN.
        - Migrate your site over to GeneratePress theme and use GenerateBlocks (this is what I use). It generates much less CSS/JS/Fonts and is a much leaner theme.

Start with that and see if you have better performance and load time.

You must contact your theme support. I hope they will resolve this issue. You must check your website's server if there is no theme issue.
After, you need to compress your website images. Always post optimized Images.

  • Hi atefbouss,

    Happy to help you

Slow website speed can be caused by various factors such as large image sizes, unoptimized code, slow hosting, and more. Here are a few steps I shared with you to improve the speed of your website using the POCO WordPress theme:

Optimize Images: Large images can slow down your website's loading time. Make sure to compress your images before uploading them to your website.

Minify CSS and JavaScript: Minifying your CSS and JavaScript files can help reduce their size and improve your website's loading speed.

Use a Caching Plugin: A caching plugin can help improve your website's speed by caching your pages and serving them to your visitors faster.

Upgrade Hosting: If your website is still slow after optimizing your images and minifying your files, consider upgrading your hosting plan.

Remove Unnecessary Plugins: Having too many plugins can slow down your website. Remove any unnecessary plugins that you don't need.

Contact Theme Developer: If none of the above steps work, you can contact the developer of the POCO WordPress theme for further assistance.

    Hope this helps your site.

  • A low PageSpeed score on mobile devices can indicate that your website may not be optimized for mobile devices. Here are a few things you can do to improve your website's mobile speed:

Optimize Images: Large images can slow down your website's load time. You can use image optimization tools like ShortPixel or Smush to reduce the size of your images without sacrificing quality.

Minimize HTTP Requests: The more HTTP requests your website makes, the slower it will be. You can reduce HTTP requests by combining CSS and JS files and minimizing the use of plugins.

Enable Caching: Caching can significantly improve your website's load time. You can use plugins like WP Rocket or W3 Total Cache to enable caching on your website.

Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN): A CDN can distribute your website's content across multiple servers, reducing the load on your website's server and improving its speed. You can use services like Cloudflare or Amazon CloudFront to set up a CDN for your website.

As for the low text to HTML ratio, it may be an indication that your website has too much code and not enough content. You can try to optimize your content and remove any unnecessary code or elements from your website to improve the ratio. It's also possible that your theme is causing the issue, so you may want to consider switching to a more optimized theme.

Have a look at plans from hostingsource.com and qhoster.com.

    They are cheap and reliable.

Regarding the slow loading speed of your website, it could be due to various factors, such as server response time, excessive use of plugins, and poorly optimized code. It isn't easy to pinpoint the exact cause without more information, but here are some general tips to improve website speed:

Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN):
A CDN will cache your website content across multiple servers, making it faster to load for visitors in different locations.

    Use a Caching Plugin:
A caching plugin will store frequently accessed content, such as images and stylesheets, in a visitor's browser cache, reducing the time it takes to load your website.

    Minimize HTTP requests:
The more requests your website has to make to the server, the longer it will take to load. You can reduce the number of requests by minimizing the number of scripts and stylesheets you use on your website.

    Remove unnecessary code:
Remove any code that is not contributing to the content of your website. This can include unused CSS and JavaScript files or plugins that are not being used.

    Upgrade your hosting plan:
Upgrade to a dedicated server or virtual private server (VPS). Your website's loading speed can be increased with a better hosting plan.

It's also possible that the POFO WordPress template contributes to your issues, so consider using a different template or consulting with the template's support team.
