      themeforest.net is also a great resource for WP themes. Way cheaper than hiring a designer.

            I know there are places where you can hold 'contests' like on dp for x-money and someone can create one for you from scratch until it fits your liking. With multiple people competing, it allows for you to pick what you like best from multiple submissions and only comitting when you find a design you like. May try that route out.
