I created a RSS feed for my static html site using RSSbot. I uploaded the xml file to the website. I am still confused with what is supposed to happen next. How and when does the feed get updated and where is it posted? How do you add the feed button to your site? Any advice would be appreciated. Just not sure how it all works.

It gets updated the next time you use RSSbot and then reupload the new version.

Edit your web pages and add it. Hopefully you are using a template and can just add it in one place, instead of editing every page.

Now submit it to RSS directories.

Now that you have your RSS feed prepared, submit it to a site like http://pingomatic.com, and resubmit it each time you make updates to your feed.
    Good luck!

Don't forget to add your rss feed to your profiles on ning and other sites you frequent.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but since we are talking about RSS feeds. and my question does follow the OP sort of, I was actually wanting to know what rss feed directories does anyone recommend to submit our feeds to, to get indexed more quickly by Google?
